    I have an i9 10850k and a Corsair h100i v2 cooler ( 4 years old )

    Room temperature 24C

Cooler pump and fans speed at max ( just for the test )

    Arctix Mx-5 thermal paste

    PC at idle

    Liquid Temp 28C

    Cpu package temp 27-30C

After Cinebench R23 15 mins at 200 watts

Liquid temp 41C (45C+ at load during summer)

    Max CPU package temp 86C

Is my cooler dying or it just cant handle a 10850k..???

Everything is at stock, no overclocks, only Intel limits removed.

How long does it take for temps to return to normal after going back to idle

well, the CPU temp comes down immediately to 40s where it matches the liquid temp.
the liquid temps takes about 15 mins to return to normal, taking down the cpu temp also with it.

Your PC chassis is one that's ventilated (side panel with tiny holes)....or closed.....

    Your chassis has "exhaust" fans?

Myself added one more fan after the radiator to facilitate cooling....... (default one before the radiator....and one more after the latter)

    i9 10850 can go to > 90°

Even when running CPU only stress test in Aida64 125 watts, cpu temp is 68C max while liquid temp reaches 38C
