Cyberpunk well, maybe, maybe not. At this time there's no haste, nobody is actively waiting for it anymore i guess.

With Witcher, it always smelled like absolute clusterf* for me given they didn't even dare to show a single screenshot at a "witchercon" (so what better occasion there would be to do so?).
I assume that re-gearing the engine to support RT plus necessities of ditching Scaleform (no DX12 or PS5 GNM support) would require either making something custom or backporting INK from CP 2077 and then rebuilding exact same UI using different system.

In nutshell, the company is tying their own noose either way - they delay because stuff is not ready and people are angry, they don't delay and people are angry as well.
It's a lesson they should've carried out first time when releasing CP, now it's impossible to please anyone and i imagine tomorrows stock opening will be interesting to say the least as at this point there's nothing to expect from the company up til the end of the year and also given vague "quarter" metrics - possibly even up to 6 months.

Surprising/not surprising. You'd think with the track record they have had lately they would have gotten ONE of the two games out this year with the next-gen update. With covid, why even split teams into two games, or focus one team on two games? Fix Cyberpunk, bring out the update you've said for almost a year was coming and then move on to Witcher 3. Instead, you delay both updates. Just terrible management from this company. I don't think Cyberpunk can be saved at this point, but come on. Try.

Witcher 3 upgrade was outsourced to Saber from the very start, CDPR has nothing really to do with it probably outside outlining the scope and doing periodic reviews on state of the project.
W3 probably required way more work to be upgraded to support modern APIs and RT than they initially guessed as it touching one thing led to having to rework 2 others and so on and so forth.

With Cyberpunk - well, yeah, whatever. It was a shitshow to begin with so we're still within theme.

Ah, didn't know Witcher 3 was outsourced. Thanks!

In regards to cyberpunk, doubt all the people on the hate-train have actually played the game. It has never been a trainwreck as far as the actual game goes. It's just alot of people online who are repeating the bs said by others, nearly all of it unsubstantiated. Did / does the game have some bugs? Sure, but what game doesn't. The game has never been unplayable on pc, as has been made out to be the case online. In other words, the game is NOT a dissaster - far from actually... but the PR management sure hasn't been good. But I wouldn't be surprised if some certain individuals driving the hate-train stands to gain from CDPR failing, thus getting rid of an ever increasing competitor.

It was a train wreck on consoles. Especially the PS4 and X1.
That's why CDPR only showed video footage and review codes for the PC version only.

It should never have been released on that garbage hardware.

But how it is on console has no impact on pc, yet people on the hate-train fail to distinguish between them...

    True.
In fact CDPR should have delayed it to spring 2022, ditched last gen and focused PS, PS5 and Series S/X.
Not having to waste time and resources on last gen would have meant the game would be much better on newer consoles and PC.
The game would live up to the hype and sell even more. And also, would not have sullied the reputation of CDPR.

If they had ditched last gen consoles, i dont think they would have even had to delay it... most of the stuff they cut etc was because it couldn't run on the garbage hardware of the old consoles. It really is a shame that the game had to be constrained by shitty consoles, even more than what witcher 3 was.

I would rather see them take their time with any future updates.
Make them as solid, polished and meaningful as possible.

The game itself already suffered by being rushed out, we don't need updates breaking or making things worse by being rushed out to meet some arbitrary release window.

Oh yes. Really looking forward to the recoding of the police system. IMHO that's the most immersion breaking problem atm. NPCs spawning randomly in clear view of the player is a very lazy way to tackle an AI problem.

They haven't even confirmed that any mechanical overhauls will be happening, expecting anything like that to happen is just setting yourself up for another disappointment.

    Code:
Forbes also released an article stating a list of (rumoured and possible) additions, found by a known dataminer, coming to the game to update it. One of these was a complete rework of the police system.

None of that is confirmed at all, for what i know bulk of the cool stuff stems from the time in production that mostly didn't even survive to times around "El Buggado" videos (so around march 2020).
Whatever is datamined might've just been really old stuff that's been planned well over a year prior to release and then got left cold.

Again, if they haven't said specifically that they're doing something, then expecting that thing to happen is just setting yourself up for a bad time.

Actually you can't even trust things they announced publicly at this point so... yeah it's all wishful thinking. xD

No more updates for CP2077 in 2021.

CDPR update their roadmap, and now it shows that there will be no more updates, until 2022.
After patch 1.31, released in September, there is nothing more planned for release.
The only thing in the future is the nextgen update, for consoles.

Even the fact that they only managed to update a yellow png about two weeks after announcing the delays is kind of eyeroll fuel.
At this point not many people are really waiting for this so it's all good i guess since they can now take all the time they can financially afford to _maybe_ make it worthwile at the end?
Although i wouldn't be betting on any major changes, just polishing up the rough edges w/o any major overhauls.

the police "system" was so undone it barely worked.

and witcher 3 did not have or hid the issue.

watch dogs the first also had cops that would only once in an age or a few missions spawn a cop.

    just make the crap complete.

and my game to just work ;p.
