    My 6800xt usually pulls 250-275w and my 5600x pulls 55-75w @ 4.7
Electricity here is cheap where I am but saw no point going full retard on a strict gaming rig. I use my threadripper for cpu needed task non gaming related.

    My 1920x pulls 150w @ 4.1ghz lol

Then you're lucky, here in central europe it's pretty damn expensive and gonna get worse.

According to my AC distributor I draw 374-480W with my 5800x and 3080Ti when gaming, monitor, speakers and soundcard rack unit included.
To be fair, I did tweak a tad though, but even with default auto values it doesn't get anything near those 820W, guess your running at 4K+ with everything Ultra or higher.

Yeah, what some quote is power usage when running at stock frequency with the lowest possible voltage, those Ryzen CPU's draw a lot more when they up their voltage and boost.

The 5800x can boost up to around 4850MHz with auto PBO on a descent board, which probably get's it to around the same power consumption as the 12900K.

820w Seems very high, My 5950X and 3090 don't draw anything like that playing Battlefield. In fact, the CPU is so under utilised that most of the cores are doing bugger all.

Try a "kill a watt" or "wattmeter" to see the total draw from the wall. :)

My system is pretty much "maxed" with "no" powerlimit on 5950x and 1000w bios on 3090. 3090 alone is drawing about 550-570w.
Including 8 fans in the case and one pump.

Maybe most fanboys don't have the cpu's ;)
I'm a performance fanboy, so I want the fastest. Right now 5950x and 3090 is a pretty good combo. Some games my ancient 10900k @5,5ghz with 4700c17memory is faster.

I've been using intel for 10 years, and that doesn't mean I have to "defend" the brand.
Do you think Intel needs you to defend the megacorporation? Disagree without offending others, after all, we are talking about billionaire megacorporations and not human rights.
Don't be immature and don't act like someone is attacking your mother when they criticize Intel.

AMD's CPUs were more efficient than their immediate competition at that point in time. It wasn't blindness nor marketing. Plenty of reviews corroborated this. What some people seem to be forgetting now is that AL is a brand-new CPU on a new architecture, not a refresh of a rehash. Intel's stagnation seems to have lulled everyone into a false expectation that Chipzilla can no longer innovate. Well, looks like they can, and they did.

108C for AIDA64 FPU test which is somewhat milder than prime95 SmallFFTs?
    At stock...
I mean, the CPU performance looks great, but 108C for a rather mild test, really now?
For example, the FPU test on my undervolted 8700K draws 90W. The SmallFFT test is drawing 115-117W. So basically, if you want to OC this (but why? is a legitimate question), you won't be able to properly stress test its stability because of the temps already being insane at stock.
Guess OC is a dead thing

It's hot, it draws quite a bit of power, but if these leaks are true, it bitch slaps the 5950X into irrelevance and does it with fewer cores. Why do I keep reading that this is somehow a bad thing?

    But if someone calls a fanboy a fanboy then he's no longer a fanboy as 1 - 1 = 0 ;)

Good for Intel but to be fair the R9-5950x is close to a year old.

Sadly the leaks are all over the place, sometimes it is faster sometimes it is not.
The 250W TDP indicates that it is running at its short time boost or the motherboard is overclocking the CPU with a Infinite boost timer.
Base speed is all the way down to 3200Mhz, so most prebuild pc with this CPU will have a massive performance gap op to a unlimited 12900k, a stock limited Intel spec 12900k could easily be slower then a 5900x when running all cores.
The temperature of over 100 degrees C could also indicate that the speed of 4900Mhz is actually not even max speed, and therefore the TDP could be close to 300W if the rumors of 5 Ghz allcore are true.

Can someone provide a link from Intel officially setting Nov 4 as the ship/availability date? I'd love to see it if Intel has actually announced it--as that is less than 30 days away it makes Nov 4 seem unlikely. What is keeping Intel from announcing general availabilty on Nov 4, if that is the case? How about motherboard shipping dates, etc? The 15% throughput for Zen3 that AMD says will come with the V-cache stacking would put current Zen 3 CPUs @ ~750 single-thread scores--and we aren't talking about Zen 4, yet, either. Should be interesting to see this matchup...;)

To be fair, my 4 years old 7980xe has almost the same Cinebench score as my 5950x. It's scoring 15500 points in Port Royal. Yes it's a gputest, but anyway it's nice.

To be fair a complete 7980xe pc would cost around 3 times as much to reach the same Cinebech score as a complete 5950x pc would, so a lot has still happened in the CPU world since the 7980xe was born.

Port Royal: a stock Ryzen 5600x at max CPU load of 50% is able to keep a 3090 busy at 97-100% GPU load and score 12.000 points on a 350W GPU bios.
Port Royal is 90% GPU dependent, so I do not even think you can spot a difference if you disable 10-12 cores on your 7980xe and keep the rest of them clocked the same.

    7980xe cost about 60% the 5950x at ebay ;)

The release date was actually rumored to have been moved up TO November 4th from later.
Maybe issues with component supply again? (DDR5 supply issues, substrates? who knows? DDR5 just hit Newegg for sale today from Geil).
