actually go watch some videos online - you will see that some part of the reference design might be causing the problem....

None of the videos I could find on YouTube indicates just that.

corect me if i am arong but dont 3080/70 already run hot and as such manufactures are having problems cooling them down? add 100w to that and probably 150w more for some manufactures and whole problem is gona be worse.

    @ Nvidia and @ManuelG

instead of jacking wattage up for gains make new architectures. As it stand from price point I have very little interested in buy new card till mine dies and if wattage just keep going up i wont want to ever. I dont want electric heater for pc. rate you are going we gona need PSU just for GPU.

Consoles look to be where i stay for while

So...will MSRP be $2000-$2500? Street price of $4000-$5000?

It costs AMD exactly the same to produce 6800/6800XT/6900XT/6900XTX (chip, VRAM, board components), but there are 1000usd difference in price between 6800 and 6900XTX (well maybe 6900XT/XTX have more VRM phase but those are dirt cheap)

All GA102 SKU have different memory configs, 3090Ti is using brand new 2GB 21gbps GDDR6X module, making it a little more different to 3090 than all those RDNA2 mentioned above.

As I see it, AMD could easily increase 6800/6800XT supply by disabling cores on 6900XT/XTX with BIOS, but there is just no reason doing so now.

The only cards that are dying are the ones with AOZ power stages.
The rev 0.1 FTW3's and some Gigabyte models use them. And which cards are dying?

Two 3070ti SLI sound like a nice choice.....oh wait, they killed SLI. Can't have gamers last years into the future anymore with dual or triple SLI, bypassing one or two card generations down the road before the need to upgrade, now can we ? Nope, make them buy next gen sooner, the cash must flow.

"You shouldn't buy this card" - every reviewer on the 3090 for gamers.

"Here's a 3090Ti!" - nvidia, realising noone listens to reviewers.

LHR is what get GPU to the hands of gamers, if 3090Ti is LHR then it could be selling for lower than current 3090.

LHR cards only restrict eth hash rates, not other coins. So miners will still be interested in them

It reduce the profitability quite a bit (about 1.5usd/day according to Nicehash).
Non-LHR model can sell for much higher price than LHR on the second hand market.

What's the reason behind this product? I seriously wonder. They all sound like excuses to make the higher prices normal.

I guess both Nvidia and AMD are trying to milk the market a little longer and only release RDNA3/ADA in 2023 when the silicon shortage is over. They just sit back and enjoy bottles of champaige like what Intel was doing for a long time :D

I want to see the RTRT performance but will wait 3 years from now when we can get this performance at entry level prices.

Sure, but less than the current 3090 prices, or even MSRP of the 3090, is so far beyond what I see as reasonable for a videocard for non-pro use - even one so high end - that it just doesn't matter if it exists in the market.

    but but...according to Steam survey the 3090 have about as many users as 6700XT + 6800 + 6800XT + 6900XT combined :p

Not really surprising in this market. I mean, I am not poor by any stretch of the imagination. I live in a wealthy country. I could buy a 3090 right now if I wanted to. But... I don't want to spend that amount of money on a graphics card for playing games once or twice a week for an hour. Or even if I was playing every day for multiple hours, I couldn't see myself spend that much.

These seems like more of a Halo products. They will charge as much as people are willing to pay.

    King of the hill chip.
