Why was it a "mess" sure there are things I'd like changing but overall it was a fine OS.

That's just how it is for some people. Before that it was Win7 that was a mess, before that it was Vista, before that it was XP and so on all the way back. All of it was horrid and they'd never upgrade.

Nah Win7 was pretty awesome. Just like XP. Its always one that sucks followed by a good one. Win98 was bad, XP good, Vista bad, Win7 good, Win8 bad and the only exception was Win10 that was at the beginning horrible and then became okay.

    Vista wasnt bad.
I had far less trouble with it then XP.
Problem was it was totally different then XP. Lots of XP drivers didn't work and people were mad their POS 512mb single core ran vista like crap. In fact, Vista SP1 is just Win 7 with a different skin.

BTW, it went Win 98, 98SE, Win ME, Win 2000 before XP.

Had it on for an hour and to be honest yes it looks a bit different but some things seem a little more logical. Had to download Start 11 and upgrade from Start 10 to get it looking a little more how i like. It looks more of an evolution rather than a revolution.

That wasn't the only problem. Vista had a lot of unnecessary bloat, the product lineup was over-complicated, there was software compatibility issues, and it was unstable until SP1 came out. These growing pains were overall a necessary evolution, but you just can't screw with things that much on an OS like Windows.
All that being said, it didn't deserve the amount of hate it got, but it was a legitimately bad OS.

How can they be so out of touch with reality?
2021 is one of the worst years ever, to buy a PC.

Tried it for like 2 seconds and went back to 10. Can't bother with the UI right now. It's kind of a mess and a bit buggy. I'll give it another shot after a few updates.

Yeah well, it's like MS hates those who use their OS.
Startmenu is much worse and less customizable. Lots of empty space in recommendations which I can't remove.
Taskbar lacks for instance drag and drop and all the icons are small so it's not possible to see how far some things have progressed.

Not looking for trouble with my pc, been 6 months of no issues. I'll pass for now. Maybe upgrade next year once Win 11 can atleast offer noticeable performance increase in games otherwise i stick with 10 for some more years.

The problem is way overblown to be honest. It really shows that you are in an echo chamber.
I remember the days when Vista was introduced. People were flipping over the new system requirement and how their hardware needed new drivers, more RAM, more storage for a basic install... Yet, in the end, people got over it. Hell, they EMBRACED it when Windows 7 came around.

So, Windows 11 is a bit like XP to Vista. OEM of new PC had the choice of putting more than 512GB of RAM or not. Hardware manufacturers had the choice to rewrite their drivers or not when MS introduced the new system.

With Win10 to 11, Microsoft always had the TPM and Secure Boot pre-requisite for OEM for a very long time. Now, they just make it mandatory at large. It's more akin the system requiement bump from the XP to Vista days.

I am far more interested in how to prevent it from ever being installed on my machines.
