This may also have the side effect of causing muddier textures

NVIDIA's current offerings, and future offerings, are uninteresting.

Not a single issue here, I don't know where you got 240fps on average for a 3080 the 3080Ti doesn't even get that at 1440p max

I average about the same performance on my 6800XT @ 2600MHz core 2150MHz mem + DS off

    20210912170323_1.jpg 20210912170932_1.jpg

lowest i've seen is 110fps inside intense fight scenes and in that 3080Ti video you can see that card also dips to the same numbers.

It won't, the texture quality is a different setting inside the game settings. It will still display the same quality textures to that which you select in the options. This just stops the game engine from caching upwards of 90-95% of your VRAM with needless data. The engine wants to cache as much as possible to prevent loading later on but its implementation is poor and if it sees memory it will try and use it. This leads to data that is needed that hasn't been cached having to be fetched and switched in and out of VRAM leading to stuttery gameplay after a short time of play.

I can play the game fine maxed out with 4K texture pack but after about 10-15 minutes of play it starts to stutter (this is just in normal MP by the way so small maps).

If I disable the 4K texture pack it gets better but now its after 15-20 minutes of play. The game has a VRAM setting but the lowest is 70% and I am sure this doesn't work either as it still caches a ton of VRAM until near full.

Using this tweak of 0.5 in the .ini fixes the issue completely. I guess Activision are too buy releasing loot boxes and season passes to bother allocating dev time to properly fix it. Hopefully they address it in vangaurd.

Dipping to 110 is different than only averaging 110-150, my wife's 3080 averages 200-220 in most strikes while my 6800XT with the same CPU and RAM only averages at most 150. It's perfectly smooth but I should be getting roughly the same not 50-70 less fps. Hell in the tower I'm sitting at 90fps while she's at 160 what is that

A problem on your end it seems. In the tower I get 150fps+

    COD Modern Warfare 2019 Tweak

For Vega (and not only) users i found this as a very good Tweak
Game runs stable at 65-70FPS all the time (mixed settings).

Force the Game to Start with DirectX 11

As this error mostly occurs on Windows 10 and Xbox One, both using the new DirectX 12, which itself has been known to be broken.
Hence, switching back to DirectX 11 to play the game has worked for a lot of users. DirectX 11 is more stable version, but you will have to sacrifice some features which DirectX 12 brings; however, not extreme.
So, let’s force the game to run in DirectX 11 mode. Here are the steps.

    1. Open Battle.Net Client on the PC.
    2. Open the game COD Modern Warfare
    3. Go to Options
    4. Check Additional Command Line Arguments and type -d3d11
    5. Exit and try playing the game.
Poor Performance Fix (VRAM Allocation Bug solver)
    • Go to %YourUSERPROFILE%\Documents\Call of Duty Modern Warfare\players
    • Open adv_options.ini
    • Change VideoMemoryScale = 0.9 to VideoMemoryScale = 0.11
    • Save and close

Tested with Vega LC, NP run in DX11 (without it is)
Same goes for 3080Ti run in DX12, it's not AMD/NV fault..

I destroy her scores and FPS in pretty much every other game, except hunt the showdown but cry engine has always been horrible on AMD

I honestly have no idea then. I remember playing Desting 2 when I got my 6800XT at launch and yes it was a complete mess but they released a BIOS update to fix it, then a gpu driver update, and finally a game update too. Make sure you have all these I would check you BIOS and see if you are up to date on that side. Check for monitoring apps too, things that will poll your hardware in the background too many of these can have issues on ryzen. This is why I limit MSI AB to 2000ms instead of 1000ms and I only monitor the main things like GPU, CPU, RAM, FPS and turn off all the power monitoring, fan techometer, I also turn off individual CPU core monitoring and just select CPU as whole so CPU overall temp, power, clocks.

Other than that I have no idea. I do also get horrendous performance in cry engine games on this 6800XT. Crysis 3 is terrible and RYSE SON OF ROME is a total no go.

I'm on an Intel 11600K at 4.9Ghz all core, 3600mhz 32GB ram however I'm beginning to think that intels Gear ratio mode of Gear 2 hurts destinys performance. High ram latency in Gear 2 but higher ram OC, every other game is solid just D2 with the low Fps, wife runs the same system but instead a 10600k and 3080 where the 10600k does not have a gear 2 1:2 ratio just standard 1:1. Might pop my 6800XT in her system and test it out

I installed the new drivers and lost the 200+ fps at 1440p. It's only at 1080p now.

Fps dips alot lower then before. Didn't notice any performance increase with Sam enabled in Cold War. Fps is exactly the same.

Any else confirm if Sam works in Cold War?

    This is coming from 21.7.2

Anyone get SAM to work in COD: Cold War?

    ye, do.
Most games are highly dependent on access time(latency). So check it out, maybe better for you will be gear1 mode and tighten timings. All of them.
Me personally, with 9900kf@5ghz and ram at 4266 16 16 16 34 and tweaked max all sub timings, I have 34-34.4ns aida score, where default, only xmp 4400c19 showed 45+ if I remember correctly.
Sons 3200c14 xmp only with 8086k had 46-48ns like. Tweaked, at 3800 nice boosted transfers, and 36-38ns latency.

Gear 1 standard spec only supports up to 2933mhz/3200mhz, some boards offer Gear 1 at 3400mhz or 3600mhz on 11th Gen. Updated bios won't change that it's just whatever limits they built the controller around but in that regard yes I'm fully updated and Gear 1 is only supported at up to 3200mhz

The whole Gear situation with 11th Gen is pretty stupid, and Alder Lake is looking to be even worse having massively high ram latency on DDR5 speeds due to being at Gear 4/5 even bigger ratios. I'm going to switch to Ryzen soon

On Apex z490 abd z590 I can use all speeds on gear 1. 3866mhz c14 is max for my 11900k imc.

Gear on 11 series is as stupid as zen infinity fabric 1:1 to memory :)

Hmm, after a few reboots I'm seeing a slight difference in performance with SAM on now. Had it off before. With it on I'm seeing roughly a few fps difference in maps now. While before it aound 150 FPS or so. Now it's around 160 fps or so at 1440p. But what's more interesting is that going to 21.9.1 the input in game is more snappy. And the battle.net's mini video of Judge Dredd is a bit more fluid now. Mini videos in battle.net that advert have always been a bit inconsistent.

I am still not getting the same 200+ FPS I was getting before though at 1440p. Not sure why that is.

    Still slaying though.
