Hoping this is a sign that Alan Wake 2 is coming, which I much rather see than a remaster of 1; personally I think the original Alan Wake still holds up very nicely graphically even today.
While not confirmed, Remedy is working on a bigger project in the same universe so AW 2 is a relatively safe bet. Only one way to find out! If you ask me definitely worth playing.
Does Alan Wake Remastered support ray tracing / HDR? No. As this is a remaster built on the existing Alan Wake engine and technology, adding in ray tracing / HDR support was deemed too time-consuming. This would have taken resources away from other critical areas. We are confident the game looks great even without ray tracing / HDR support.
Yes, cracking game and cracking story no matter what hardware you are playing it on, wait for it to be on a steam sale as the PC version of the game was built from the ground up for the PC, hence why it was delayed for so long before it launched back in the day.
That is the nostalgia talking. I think this is right move remastering the game for next gen and people who actually never played it before doing the sequel. Its very underrated after all.
Not at all. Alan being a writer is a key part of the story. Can't go into it without spoiling it, but, it's not meaningless.
Rather disappointed with no HDR, no RT. So, what exactly does this "remaster" offer over the existing PC version?
Minimum CPU: i5-3340 or equivalent GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Equivalent. 2GB VRAM. RAM: 8 GB or higher OS: Win 10 64-bit Recommended CPU: i7-3770 or equivalent GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Equivalent. 4GB VRAM RAM: 16 GB OS: Win 10 64-bit
Really hope so! Haha I think even up to just a couple of years ago I'd fire up the game now and then just for a quick run! Obviously it's not going to stand up to the graphical fidelity of today's games but it's still nice enough to look at and not so repulsive where you wouldn't want to play it, for me anyway. I just hope the remaster is improved enough to justify the update!
Updated facial animations and character models, some textures updated. Full game commentary from Sam Lake. That's... basically it.
They redid many assets, the cutscenes, improved the overall geometry and they also updated the textures. Seeing the comparison pics shows clearly it's not just about pumping up the resolution. Idk what ppl were expecting to be honest! It's a remaster and that's exactly what a remaster is supposed to bring to the table. Porting the whole game to their new engine would have been a much bigger undertaking. I think this time (like many others) the "press" made up stuff to get more clicks and came up with ray tracing, new engine and so on. I think it looks definitely better than before overall, and I hope it's a sign we're getting a second AW in the future.
