AMD Radeon Software - Preview Drivers - DCH/UWP

Discussion in 'Videocards - AMD Radeon Drivers Section' started by MerolaC, Apr 8, 2021.

  1. If it comes from WU and if I was on W11, nah I probably wouldn't bother.

On W10, I update whenever a new driver is posted here. I use AMD's own cleanup utility instead of DDU (it's smaller and quicker): https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601

That's not false information, that means your driver and card support HAGS but your OS ( Windows 11 ) does not, which it doesn't right now as far as I've seen

This was my case. And I had problems. Windows doesn't uninstall the previous driver. So later if you uninstall the last one from the device manager with the option "Attempt to remove the driver for this device" - your card will get automatically the previous one existing on the system. You have to repeat this until you get "Microsoft Basic Adapter" or just to use DDU once to remove all accumulated drivers on the system.

Usually, I have no problems just putting the new driver on top of the old one without any cleaning. But sometimes just like now, I have some weird issues. So it's a good practice to use DDU just in case.

I use AMD Cleanup Utility to remove UWP Windows 11 driver from AMD without issue. AMD Driver 30.0.13011.1004 is very stable with no problems on latest Windows 11 build, look like WDDM 3.0. was made for RDNA 2.

Came back to these UWP drivers, I went back to official drivers as Doom Eternal was broken for me and would crash to desktop within the start up logos.

I can confirm with v30.0.13011.1004 that Doom Eternal is completely fixed. Played a solid hour of the game and it was butter smooth, seems slightly faster than latest official 21.8.1 maybe just placebo but fps seems higher with RT enabled on these new drivers compared to 21.8.1 where the fps would drop dramatically when tons of ammo/health/armour pickups would drop from enemies. Now those fps drops are gone.

The driver version info seems to be on par with 21.8.1 or newer for the various components included so I suppose the Vulkan code is also up to date now and resolved. :)
Profiles from 21.8.1 in the atiapfxx.blb file aren't in this but that's nothing too concerning it's a couple of applications and I think the dev project for Quest 2

SAM/ReBAR is still showing as enabled in AMD control panel for me on latest UWP drivers with Windows 10 21H1 and RDNA1 ( RX5700 ) + Zen2 ( 3600 ) + X470 board. I did quick benchmark with Borderlands 3 to see if it works/makes any difference. I did restart my pc between each run.

    ReBar ON:
    1st run:
    108.98fps 9.18ms

    2nd run:
    109.28fps 9.15ms

    ReBar OFF:
    1st run:
    102.99fps 9.71ms

    2nd run:
    102.77fps 9.73ms

Looks like they fixed the disappearing cursor in game when the overlay is enabled, at least in the few games I tested.

They have fixed it in the last 30.0.13011.1004 driver. The bug is not related to the app.

It's only 20MHz? Damn the difference it pretty huge. But anyways, 4K120Hz is demanding so thas why it's not idle at 20. Same with 1080p144Hz too sadly, but this depends on GPU/Cable/Monitor etc

It's an old bug with these memory clocks in IDLE. I use CRU to make a custom resolution for my 75Hz monitor and I get only 6MHz in IDLE. Otherwise - the maximum memory clock (over 2000MHz). In 60Hz mode - no problems.

It never installs the Uwppair for me. what am I doing wrong? I tried to install it also when I have the 21.5.2 installed just to check. but it never shows up on the device manager. I tried to install from the newest and from the oldest AMD Radeon Software - UWP - v27.20.21001.7005

Ha never mind, it worked. installed, though I can't see it at all in the device manager.
