A new spike in the price trend of graphics cards can be spotted

Feeling ya'.
Someone gave me a Nvidia for repairs, and had almost the same damage done previously.
The pads are destroyed, so little chance to reball that chip.
And I wanted to repair the darned thing, owner promised a good fee for my work. But there are limits to this craft.

 

I just passed on an offer for Titan Xp Jedi for 500eur cause I felt it was too much.

 

Out of curiosity I tried finding one and the one it showed first was $1,899.99 US which translates to be $2,603.26 AU

I paid £450 3 years ago for my present GTX1080, i paid £450 a few weeks ago for a PS5, Nvida can take their GPUs and stick them where the sun don't shine at these prices from now on. lol

For now, game devs are lowering system requirements. Look at Far Cry 6; it's lower than it would be. Soon games will have to stagnate and before long there just won't be a viable PC gaming market anymore for big titles. No GPUs in gaming rigs means the industry collapses. PC already got the leftovers from consoles even when times were good. GPUs will be rebranded as mining products instead of gaming products.

 

I quickly googled "european union cryptocurrency" and found out the EU is planning to force financial regulation on crypto wallets/transactions (the exchanges). So, a removal of account anonymity would happen, as well as enforcing normal traceability of transactions (like in all banks and such financial institutions). Unfortunately the geriatric mammoth called the EU moves very slowly, so it seems it might take till '23 to see it happen, but it's better than nothing. Of course a ban would be a lot better, but unfortunately that might not happen. However, transparency means criminals would accept a bigger risk if they use the public exchanges, so if dirty money is reduced, perhaps crypto prices will drop, making miners less enthusiastic.

gpus are money trees now too, and will be for years.,

 

If this continues then i will do the same, buy a PS5/Xbox and just keep my PC normal usage and for some specific games, like strategy games.

This is a curious effect of the lack of GPUs for gamers, studios can no longer push the graphics like they did before because very few have rigs strong enough to run those games.

This can also mean that there´s the chance that future console games are going to look much better than PC games due to the closed hardware of consoles and lack of powerful GPUs for gamers.

I reckon you don't buy a Titan XP SW Special edition to actually run it. It's a collectible, that's why you pay 500€ still, I guess.

pascal,vega,RDNA1 - they're only worth it if you get one cheap.
i bought a 1070 strix for 150eur last october. im not gonna spend 500 on a titan pascal.
i'd prefer a 2070 over this.
