So I finally found out what setting is making the game so blurry.

    Just ad this to engine.ini

Also did some shopping and now packing an USP AR, SMG and machine gun. I call this the horde hunter loadout!

Aand I just wasted time killing the Old Sawmill horde before learning it must be destroyed as part of a story mission.... well at least I got 500 Freaker Ears for it.

Will be VERY interesting to see how that mission plays out now. Probably (hopefully) just respawns the horde.
Reloading a save didn't so a little bit worried it's broken.

Don't worry, it's not that easy, even with the napalm... :p

I don't use the napalm molotovs much.
I use mostly guns. Some of the later guns are really powerfull.
The IDF PUP, for main assault rifle, this is accurate and packs a good punch. And with the extended mag, it's even better.
The SMP9 for side arm. It's almost an assault rifle, for close quarters.
And for last, two options. The MG55, which is the best machine gun in the game.
Or the Cal.50, because it can kill several zombies with one shot, at a distance that the horde can't even tell where I am.
The problem is that it has few bullets. But it's always good to thin out the horde, before going all out.

Honestly, the ONLY gun I needed was the tommy gun with extended mag, (sidearm the deagle with extended mag, barely used). If you maxed out stamina and focus you can just outrun the hordes, spray in slow motion, run again, spray, if you run out of ammo circle back to bike and get more, rinse repeat. All the gadgets and explosives are a bonus, but definitely not needed.

Found a silly exploit for this mission.

You can get inside one of the mansion on the mission location, and get to an unreachable location on top of entrance.

Okay I must vent a bit:

First of all I again did a story mission bound horde before actually getting to the mission. To my knowledge there are 3 such missions in total (Googled it now ffs) so I'll finish them before doing more hordes in open world.

However that's not my gripe, my gripe is how the story mission hordes compared to hordes in open world:

    - artificially lock you into a mission area and if you go out of bounds, mission insta-resets. Riding the bike full speed doesn't give you enough room to stop so the second you see Leaving Mission Area, you're f*cked
    - the horde remains aggroed towards you all the time, even if you escape a longer distance to break line of sight
    - at least first mission is forced to night time
-> this makes dealing with a horde on a story mission artificially more difficult

not related to story mission hordes and I guess I need to set things up better, but:

    - the remote detonation bombs detonate on contact or close proximity. That kind of defies the entire point of them (a delayed detonation would be lot more effective because the main pack always takes a while to "catch up")
    - proximity bombs will insta-detonate if placed near a dead Freaker... hashtag I used to have a face...

Seriously I had to retry that horde mission where you first get the napalm molotovs several times just because I went out of bounds!

My preferred horde hunting tactic in the open is:

    - study the world map closely to detect a horde's feeding grounds
    - work out from there where the hideout is
    - attack the hideout at daytime when the freaks are all clumped up in there (though I'm sure the game doesn't spawn them all in at once), throw a few molotovs or grenades
    - escape with bike, once the pack is no longer aggroed, start working your way back and killing the stragglers
    - once the main pack is back at the hideout, repeat (this is another benefit of day time, freaks will return to the hideout instead of roaming around free)

I didn't have any problems with the horde missions. And not with mission boundaries.
I finished the game in Hard II.

My tactic is to start by thinning out the horde at a distance. Usually only a handful of zombies will agro at a time.
If you have the 50cal, you can kill 3 or 4 zombies at a time, from a very safe distance, that doesn't agro the horde.
If you have the earned the patch that gives extra penetration, you can kill 5-6 zombies with each shoot.
With the mag extension to 15 bullets, you can kill nearly half of the biggest hordes.

When the whole horde becomes aware of me, then I throw a couple of molotovs in their way.
And then I just shoot them all. I just run a bit ahead of them, reload, then turn around and shoot them again.

I prefer to hit-and-run with the bike after the horde is aggroed and with that tactic you run out of space really quickly in the story mission.

Days Gone has sold 9+ millions copies on PS4 (8) and PC (1).
Unfortunately, Sony still has no plan to make a sequel.

Days Gone didn't feature Abby so of course Sony didn't like it.

    *edit*

I wonder if this game will be deserving of a sequel.
