A week or two ago a RansomEXX ransomware virus hit Gigabyte, where 112 GB of data was taken. The information posted by the hackers is currently on display, according to CyberNews. ... Internal files as well as Intel and AMD source code out after Gigabyte website breach
I heard everything else was stolen, but the hackers refused to touch the files containing Gigabyte PSU blueprints.
Depending on what was taken it could ultimately end with Gigabyte loosing their Branding License with AMD and have to stop selling AMD based products. Gigabyte is responsible for safe guarding the information, trade secrets, and non public arena information they are entrusted with. Depending on how the lawyers worded the agreements it may already be happening. This could be the beginning of the end for Gigabyte; they may be circling the crapper. Intel is probably involved in this also.
What a load of FUD. That would make no sense for AMD at all to throw one of their biggest partners under the bus, this was not willingly distributed but stolen. If it was highly sensitive data (contract dealings) then gigabyte would have probably paid up to avoid the fallout. I say bravo to them for refusing. More companies should be so brave.
They are responsible for safeguarding there information. They failed. The consequences may be severe.
nah few people might get laid off ...or get yelled at ...but i do not think amd will touch even the slightest the supply of chipsets and gpus towards gigabyte ... Gigabyte is one of the biggest players aibs cutting ties with gigabyte is almost like directly cutting a portion of your sales and profits almost like shooting your self in the foot ! Ever wondered why msi still sells nvidia / amd cards and amd motherboards and intel motherboards with out issue ...meanwhile msi leaks info all the time they are as secure on keeping info as much is a Vault with a hole in the wall next to the door !
The fact this data was on a server that was not in its own secure non internet facing subnet is proof that gigabyte is incompetent. Gigabyte is not too large to fail.
Agreed , all i am just saying it is Very unlikely (personally i give it 0% chance) any supply from amd or intel will stop or get smaller cause of this .
