never ever had a single issue with HZD and shaders cache properly, same as COD.

  3. I've had HZD try to optimize shader cache on every start-up; just assumed that was relatively normal, but there's various reports about this along with different solutions (none of which worked for me). But even though HZD would try to do the shader cache on each start-up, in-game I had no stuttering.

Not sure if it's the same issue mentioned, but back on 21.7.2, the Link driver was improperly signed and wouldn't load if you had Secure Boot enabled.

Restart the game, enable vsync and wait for five minutes. How is CPU load in the main menu?

CPU load can go upto around 20% in the menu, I don't use vsync but I can try.

The stutter happens only sometimes when turing the mouse or entering a new area. Once things are loaded its fine but it happens way too often for such a weak looking game.

    EDIT:

I did what you said, enabled vsync (also fullscreen, i was on borderless) and waited a good 3-5 minutes. And to my surprise it worked, zero stutters and the game ran near locked 144fps/144Hz

Is vsync somehow tied to the games shadercaching?

Be aware that Microsoft released KB5005033 today, which might work out some stutter issues as well.

Wasn't AMD supposed to release a driver to go with this power plan / game mode update? Isn't it this one?

Are we still talking about HZD? When not waiting for shader compile to finish in the main menu, it compiles for the save game area during loading (longer load time) and then further chunks in background while playing (is less noticeable with many CPU cores, you got a beefy 5900X ;) ).

Doubt it, it’s just a monthly security update. Someone here mentioned here that a new AMD driver should reduce stutter but I personally think the finger should be pointed at W10 in it’s current messy state.

W11 despite having a few regressions in certain games, it still plays quite a bit smoother in most games from what I’ve read.

Gaming on Windows 11 has been great so far, anyone on Windows 10 21H1 should give Windows 11 RTM a try.

The content has a bit more to it than that. :)

1165 would also include 1147, 1149 and 1151 from the insider channel.
Releasing Windows 10 Build 19043.1147 (21H1) to Release Preview Channel | Windows Insider Blog

Plus the enabler package for 19044 / 21H2 and three or so features but the big thing is Windows 11 replacing what used to be 21H2

Microsoft only really focuses on the security on the KB bulletin page though so when it gets posted I usually compare the more comprehensive notes on the blog.

1149 is also listed but it's just a small change in terminology and policies for that, 1151 I believe resolved the problem where this didn't install properly and now 1165 rolls it all up as the August monthly cumulative update for Windows 10 1904X or 2020 to 2021 first and second halves. :D

I was talking about Fortnite, your advice worked very well. Is this needed to be on every boot of the game or will the shader cache be present.

For games like HZD and COD, they do 1 pre compile on the main menu and then I never get another one until I clean install new drivers. Just wondered if its the same for Fortnite.

I didn't say it wouldn't work in CoD with AMD, only HZD. Why is this the case for me, @Espionage724 and others? :) I also witnessed it on different systems and on my own with RX 480, 5700 XT and 6800.
I really doubt it's different for anybody, maybe it's just less apparent with something like a 5900X.

So, as a 6800 XT user there is literally zero reason for me to install this over 21.7.2, right? Everything is working perfectly and there are no improvements / fixes that I can see that 21.8.1 brings so....

There is really no reason to update for any user unless you bought a 6600xt. Im still staying with 21.7.2 which works fine for me.

Huh with .120 out and so many known issues I would have expected more before Microsoft considered it release ready outside of the development (And now also beta.) insider channels.

EDIT: Maybe this one will be a bit different though, no builds just cumulative update it all the way to launch.

    Interesting.

I'm not sure if .100 is really RTM, as we still see releases to the dev and beta channels increasing the build number... The only announcement was that 22000 will be RTM, but not the exact minor version number was named.

See here - the latest 22000.132:

Again the radeonsoftware.exe randomly stops working for me. It was good with 21.6.1 and 21.7.1 (haven't tested 21.7.2) now it's back again.
