I just reinstalled windows due to a unrelated hard drive issue and found my windows really dark and alot of colour problems. Even after changing ICC profiles in colour management nothing changed on the colours so I know something was off. Both my 8k TV and 4K monitor is set to 10bit YCC420 and RGB full respectively. I ended up doing a complete DDU in safe mode and reinstalling and only after that did the brightness come back full whack and the colours were much better.

Tested using older driver to try to avoid the DPC latency issue, but the results show the issue STILL PERSISTS even with older drivers before the 460 drivers.

Nvidia Driver version 457.51 DPC latency test with RTX 2080

    Full system specs:

    • RTX 2080
    • AMD 5800x
    • ASUS B550-F motherboard
    • 32GB of G. Skill Neo 3600MhzCL16 RAM
    • 1TB NVMe
    • BenQ ZOWIE XL2546

Anyone have any idea what on earth I am supposed to do, to fix this issue?

    I've already tried the following:

    • Reinstall Windows 10 completely
    • Disabling MPO with the newer drivers
    • Use DDU, then reinstall older driver (457.51) or older (450 drivers)
    • Disable Nvidia High Definition Audio Device in the device manager

None of these fix the DPC latency issue... NVIDIA pls

This is after little over an hour idle, that's fine isn't it?

I'll keep an eye on it though, see if it increases during gaming.

(The ekrn.exe thing seems to be related to ESET, have to disable idle-scan it seems)

You have to halt the service before being able to delete it.

On my PC it's constant 216kb writes happening in 30 seconds interval.
Looking at the process right now, with 5 hours of uptime it totals in 130mb written. Doesn't look like anything to be concerned about, but still outside of the browser it appears that nvcontainer writes the most data onto my drive in this timespan for what looks like to be just a telemetry.

I installed the clean version now, see if that makes a difference.

Not fixed yet, workaround is to remove the nvtopps dll from the equation.

Deep rooted kernel changes don't just happen in the space of a month, this driver still includes the improvements from the last one.

You're exchanging little annoyances for potential game breakage and instability.

It's much higher on Turing and Ampere

False assumption, the unlocking of new driver capabilities and changed hardware behaviors can reveal hardware defects you were never previously aware of.
Case in point: The myriad users claiming no issues with usb all this time simply because they don't fit the criteria of being affected by it (not using a gen 4 m2 for instance)

This is a low priority issue for you and the one other guy running an 8k display.

it shouldn't affect games due to the nature of the root of the issue being tied into p-state latencies.

overclock scanner probably won't work anymore.

This isn't that old of a bug, and its a workaround for a fault in the game itself.

You have one dll total, one folder and a symlink for that folder which makes the dll appear twice.

    Thats the symlink location.

    Thats not it.

    C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NvTopps

This driver is known to not be affected, so your issue is one of hardware nature.

Both are already disabled, so that's not a solution.

I dont that nvtopps at all, not even in services., guess Im ok.

    @TheDeeGee
but does it stutter if it happened so frequent, or just because of disk IO interrupts?

Dudes, as you will see below. I have absolutely no issues with NVDisplay.Container.exe. This is after approx 2hrs running after this driver install. During this time there was 0% disk activity. OS is WIN11 21H2 build 22000.120. 99ook cpu @5ghz all core, EVGA 2080ti FTW3 Hybrid LC, Trident Z 3200mhz XMP2 ram. Corsair RM1000 PSU.

No latency issues with MPO 'Enabled' in registry. Also using 8bit colour without issue (don't have 10bit on one of my 2 Freesync).

Maybe this issue is limited to Win10 builds? o_O

everyone has the disk writes issue with a bog standard install of the driver (with or without gfe)

the malfunctioning behavior is not specific to 10.

your display container is demonstrating the issue,it should be presenting no cpu activty.

Hello guys. I just switched from AMD RX 5700 to nVidia RTX 2080 Ti (Aorus Extreme) and I must say I'm pretty confused about functionality.
Does this high DPC can also cause "lags" or any corruption to audio? Because that's what I experience in Horizon: Zero Dawn. I also noticed the lag in desktop apps.
    Thanks

The location appears to vary, possibly depending on if they are old installs or if you're running a Standard or DCH install.

I haven't tested my assumption(s) above, but the folder you're refering to was already empty for me.

I'm running a DCH install which was installed on top of a previous DCH install on Win10 21H2 (Insider) and i found the DLL (named "_nvtopps.dll" in my case) in two separate folders:

    Code:
    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_1c83a5d7cffd7bff\Display.NvContainer\plugins\Session\

    and

    C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_5d5c294bb8d17217\Display.NvContainer\plugins\Session\
The simplest way to find out where it's located for individual cases is to use Task Manager or Process Explorer to check from what path NVDisplay.Container.exe is running out of.

You can also use Everything (https://www.voidtools.com/) to quickly find every copy of any file it as long as your disk partitions are NTFS.

Can you just rename the the .dll to xxx.xxx and remove the issue?
