Was a huge mistake that they stopped allowing community driven servers, where we got to be admins ourselfs... is one of the primary reasons why bf4 is still the biggest battlefield on pc... the admins can get rid of the cheaters ASAP. In bf1 and bf5 they are just free to roam unchecked.
EA is fear driven for the server files since they always leak for every BF game that had RSP program, BC2 is on old backend that they don't care about anymore and by now i assume 80% servers are run on stolen server files and heavily modded. BF3/4/BFH all are stolen as well although hosting here is much harder since new backend has IP whitelists so your IP needs to be in same range as whitelisted RSP to register with their main server. With BF1/BFV and undoubtedly 2042 they felt like they can be 100% in control by just relying on cloud servers and one two hand picked RSPs which will be 100% handled through EA system and as such end player has no way of exploiting the RSP themselves.
^That sure makes sense, but their game quality and undoubtedly sales as well suffered for this decision. After all, people who pirate games aren't necessarily paying customers in the first place and this decision only made experience worse for anyone who paid.
Just got this in my mail. Sharring "including this content" - yeah right... lol. Will be a big secret that Technical playtest is coming - like it was all the years before. You cant even sign in, sigh...and when you are finally digned in, the survey is not responding. Srsly, EA, where are your servers...

It's not actually what I'd see in a technical test / open Beta week that I'd be curious about how BF develops and works out. Netcode, cheaters, map design, all of that stuff is a long term thing to keep an eye on. I'm not even sure I'll play such an open beta.
Unless EA go after Artificial Aiming directly by taking them to court and or taking down the website that provides the cheat service..... there will be cheats for BF2042 probably within the first week of launch, heck... maybe even during the Technical playtest to be honest.
Yes, it was like that in the past as well. I can particularly remember how bad the BF4 beta week was... But yes, since EA doesn't care about shutting down cheats, I don't care about putting much faith in BF2042 either.
I couldnt even select full playtest, as it was already full..sigh. So i could only choose 8/14/2021 At 5:00 AM PDT and that is not lasting very long afaik.
Ah, should be enough to see how the game feels. But it's not really helping to get a reserved slot with fixed time either... have fun, will be curious to hear what you have to share (unless it's under NDA )
Accounts are currently been approved for the alpha so go check if you signed up, see you on the battlefield. Pre load is up too its just under 18GB
I just hope it runs ok for my old hardware, lol. Not expecting anything, especially with 128 players now, haha. Edit: And the game is now using EAC.
I'd like to know what they choose people based upon... i own all previous battlefield titles, but have not gotten the invite once.
Neither did I. It's almost as if EA and Dice don't give a toss about their costumers. Look at the way the choose who gets to play the beta: "first come, first served basis" This means any one, that might not have an interest in the saga, can get in the beta. But long time fans, who wanted to play and buy the game, are left out.
I bet the logic is that since you own all the other BFs you will likely buy this one as well, so its better to market it to someone else. That being said, I don't remember any betas that give any preference to the old customers.
