I got my R9 290 for $275. That was an upper-mid-range GPU when it was new, and it still keeps up with games at 1080p (maybe not with AA or maxed-out textures but it does keep up). Funny how this entry-level GPU is $100 more expensive and yields roughly the same performance. But...at least it uses half the wattage, so that's a plus.

I miss my R9 270X, that card was just over 200€ and what a piece of hardware it was! After 2017 this all went to hell.

The issue here being these high end cards should be a about $1200, it's only since miners raped video card prices that the high end segment have doubled in price and so far, not come back down from the moon.

These inflated prices are not normal, low end cards are now $500, medium range are $1000, and high end are simply ridiculous.

Medium range video cards should be about $300.

GPUs used to be able to play games and videos and that's it, now they can make you a pretty penny on top thus the price hike.
Until gpus cease to stop being little money trees we won't see any cheap gpus.

    6600XT will destroy 5700XT.

    6600XT will support DX12 Ultimate. 5700XT can't. Fail.

Didn't age well, no fine wine ™ for RDNA1. RDNA2 and RDNA3 make the future.

netting me _undisclosed_ amount of BTC didn't hurt either

funny how NV/AMD switch priorities between compute and rendering.
Nvidia practically invented compute with Tesla/Fermi. Then with GCN AMD went full compute, and Nvidia backtracked with Kepler, and now with RDNA1/2 AMD is ceding.
And it looks like it will stay this way with RDNA3, because of AMD having CDNA for dedicated compute.

6600xt should be the same performance as 5700xt not destroying it. Dont get caught up on amd marketing showing it beats 3060 easily.

Fine wine still apply to rdna1 just look at the recent drivers increase. 2070super is left behind.

Let try RT on 5700XT then, oh wait it can't LMAO.
Meanwhile 2070S can play nicely on every game that support RTX/DLSS, and that list of games just grow bigger and bigger.
I guess lots of 5700XT owners already upgraded to RX6000 by now, since they care about pretty graphics after all.

They can use FSR and rasterized performance is better on amd card.

The PS5 runs on RDNA1 feature set. Future game engines will be written for that. Anything higher is a cherry on top of the pie.

5700XT faster than 2070S in rasterization? source?
Not sure how FSR allows 5700XT to play RT games LOL.

PS5 use RDNA2 since it has RT capability and VRS, RDNA1 don't have those.

It doesn't have VRS. It uses checker boarding. Neither does it use Mesh Shaders and Sampler Feedback.

Do you really need a source? Dont you read Hilbert reviews? Also, rt on 2070 can be a hit or miss. Without dlss its not capable.

Huh, where is the review that show 5700XT faster than 2070S then, or you mean the AC Valhalla benchmark specifically.

I played CP2077 on a 2070S Max-Q laptop at 1080p and RTX + DLSS look quite nice, pretty sure desktop 2070S can handle RT+DLSS games at 1440p no problem.

Lots and lots of 5700XT owners should have sold their cards to miners a couple months ago and grabbed the 6700XT by now LOL, there is no point hanging on an obsolete GPU when you are not mining with it.

It will be like Polaris and Vega. Rdna1 will miss all optimizations for a new api level. Most games will support all features. :)

Now rdna2 is the true new Gen gpu since rx400 series. Harsh truth for amd users.

But it is ought to happen. Everything gets upgraded thoroughly every five years.

yup ps5 is missing a lot features that xsx has

    rdna1 were demo 7nm cards for a proper product,that is rx6000 series.
missing pretty much every new feature.
well you just incentivized me to read the latest, and 2070S still outperforms 5700xt at 1440p.A couple of titles showing ~20% diferrence. All 5700xt really has on 2070S is Valhalla.
Not really my definition of left behind.
What's gonna be left behind is 5700xt when mesh shaders and hybrid rt make it into every new game, and it is gonna happen sooner or later.

yes that is why it has it.
for pure path tracing performance it's faster than 6700xt.and it has dlss.it's not a drawback to have features.
