Dead Space Remake

I like DS games, but why a remake? I still remember playing it. DS1 is what, 12 years old? Are we really going down this road? Remaking 10,12 years old games and selling them for full price? This is ridiculous.

 

Tech changes alot in 12years. If they remake this in frostbite engine (most likely) it can look miles better than the original.

 

You can say the same about games released 5 or 6 years ago. If up-to-date visuals is all that you need from a game, that's fine. For me, that is not enough.

 

Never really played these although I do have all of them.

Regarding the complaints about the remakes, why not? Maybe they don't feel like they can make a game that is better than what they've made in the past and they can fairly easily remaster the masterpiece of the past.

If people buy it, good for everyone. Like Undying says above, current PCs are so much more powerful these days. Also, quite often it's not just about better graphics, when it comes to games that are 10+ years old. It could be things like UI scaling, resolution support, high refresh rate support, some minor QoL changes.

I'm all for it. I'd rather play a remaster/remake of a great game from the past than 99% of the drivel being released these days.

Oh, D2R is easily the one game I'm most buzzed for. So much so that I told my brother I'll play this upcoming season of D3 and it'll be my last one ever. Once D2R is out, I'm playing that pretty much exclusively until D4 is out. With some sim racing thrown in.

I'm... not ready to get excited for this.
I love Dead Space, the series... all three games. It's fantastic, and one of my all time favorites.

But, I can't help but be cautious. EA have shown time and time again that they don't have a clue why the first Dead Space was so great. And Visceral had to fight against EA's management with each title.

 

I don't mind it as long as it's an honest effort that's mostly 1:1 with some QOL additions and a proper PC version to begin with.
Original DS 1 was a good game but it had very tangible jank feel to it in some regards and PC version was barebones acceptable.

I would say that just making 1:1 proper PC remake wouldn't be 60 bucks of value to me to essentially buy same game over and overs but if they thrown in some objective improvements and maybe some extra content of some form then sure.

Ohh that seems a bit more interesting, hopefully they have figured out how to use Frostbite and don't use it's use as a reason for the game doing poorly when finally released.

I completed the first game, never played the second. It's not a scary game to play, more a test of quickness than anything else.

 

I pretty much assumed it was using frostbite didnt see the logo.

 

From that dev talk it looks to be a great remake, cant wait.
