Like haste said, asynchronous compute depends on currently unutilized resources to work effectively. Since Nvidia GPUs tend to be more efficient and have higher utilization, it goes to show that they would benefit less from asynchronous compute. You even see this with AMD GPUs. Navi does not benefit from asynchronous compute nearly as much as Vega, because Navi has higher efficiency/utilization. The fact that Turing GPUs suffer a small performance hit though tells me that Nvidia needs to tune the drivers a bit more so it can make better decisions based on available resources whether to attempt to execute the code in parallel or serial mode.
Its a dissapointing that nvidia cards even have performance hit when turned on and thats on Turing. I can imagine Pascal cards took it even harder. Alex from DF when tested midrange gpus said that 580 is 20% faster than 1060 and hopefuly async update on nvidia will catch up later on, again dissapointing. https://i.**********/7ZKTbyR7/Untitled.pngfallout 1 followers
Hello everyone, I have a problem : I get white "flashes" in game on some portion of the geometry/texture. Like so : https://i.imgur.com/6lEsq9M.png Taken from this video : I get this in other games too, is my GPU dying ? It only happens when panning the camera really fast. In Metro Exodus too like in this video : At 3.56.06 minutes. In Borderlands 3 as well, look on this right those pink artefacts : https://i.imgur.com/v9F4voc.jpg DX11 or DX12 nothing changes. Driver 436.51 tried 3 drivers no changes. Are you guys getting this too ? Thanks to anyone who can shed light on this.
Thanks a lot for your reply but....Is it common to have this in many other games as well ? I don't recall encountering this in The Evil Within 2 or Gears Ultimate for instance when I played those around launch yet I do see those occlusion culling flashes now. My GPU is stable, it does not artefact like a dying card would (no weird square-like artefacts on desktop or intensive games). It's just weird that I notice this all of a sudden.
Yes. its more noticed on high refresh monitors, if you switch the screen to a lower refresh rate or ulmb it won't be as obvious
We shouldn't expect Async in titles optimized for AMD to suddenly be better on Nvidia. Their hardware have different bottlenecks. Async has been compared to hyperthreading for CPUs. Only synthetic benchmarks manage to utilize all parts of the hardware, so the philosopy is to add another workload for the hardware that would otherwise be idle.
Finished it today, what a game! Great graphics, great storytelling, great voice acting, good length. Really recommend it!
For some reason, Gears 5 is now running like absolute dog crap for me now. I can't believe that the game actually runs worse for me today, than when it first launched. Might be a recent patch or something. When it first launched I had zero problems, no stuttering or lag, and high frame rates. Now I have lots of lag and stutter, but I still have high frame rates. I've reinstalled Windows, changed drivers, uninstalled the texture pack and even switched to another SSD and nothing has fixed it. I can't believe that the game has degraded so much over the course of a few months, what the f*ck is The Coalition doing?! Is anyone else having the same problems with stutter and lag? It seems to be related to shader compilation or texture streaming, because if I reload the checkpoint, it clears it up until I move to another area then the same thing happens.
So, up to Act 2. The skiff.... Why, is the move forward button on the skiff hard coded to W? Remapped my controls, as I always do, using E for forward. Get to the skiff and the prompt on screen says "Press E to move forward"... pressing E just makes her exit the skiff. I still have to hold W to go forward. Why are hard coded movement controls a thing? Ever...
I think it's an appropriate means of revenge against players who are so try-hard that they don't use WASD.
For anyone who's interested in finding all the places in the snow/sand maps I've provided a finished map below Spoiler: Map Spoiler
Sorry for bumping up an old thread. Does anyone know whether PC version has received next-gen upgrade (like they did on XSX) ?
