You would think they would have at the very least figured out a way of differentiating the games from the install path after all these years of the games existing... I guess that's asking too much of AMD.

    Hi everyone,
I would like to have input on what is the AMD Card that is:
    1-Cheapest
2- Would work on recent drivers with ALL feature available.
3- Actually can be bought or not affected too much by shortage.
4- Speed of the card is not important, it is for DDU development.

So on what AMD card DDU development should be made. ( my old card can't keep up with the news driver features now so I need to change)

An used RX 460/550 should do it.

    https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313&_nkw=RX+550&_sacat=0

I don't know if it's the cheapest, but it's cheap.

RX 5500 XT? Seems like its still overpriced quite a bit though, but it does seem to be affected less last time i checked.
EDIT: The 5500 xt for 'all ' driver features.
I guess raytracing can't count though.
We should be getting a 6600/6600xt at some point, maybe wait for that.

the profile system AMD uses is considerably less advanced than the scheme nvidia uses where not only can a files parent folder be taken into account, but also the presence of other files relative to the executable.

Then again, if they are like me, they'd be wondering who is even playing Half Life 2 in 2021 XD

Yep, as you'll be wanting GCN4 or higher @Wagnard

In fact, whatever settings profile you make for the one game, it will work for both since the main .exe should be the same.

Don't worry, friend with GTX 2070 got only 800x600 with last nVidia drivers :)
I don't know if he finally resolved it by DDU or by older drivers, but he was pretty pissed.
So the grass is not always greener on the other side :p

Haven't played it since the game had the steam achievements added so figured I'd try getting them.. that, and it's just one of those games that is kind of always installed because it's just small :U

For vanilla Half-Life 2, the mod :HL2: Update + AI Enhanced vanilla textured are the way to go.

Vanilla looks, just slightly more correct.

Why you want to disable the shader cache?!!!!! :D sy but funny.
    From other room:

I do not have any stuttering issue at all.....
    Prozzi 5800X AMD
Asus ROG Strix B550-E Gaming 2404 Beta
    Kingston HyperX KHX3600C17D4/16GX *2
XFX Speedster RX 6800 XT MERC319
    Dark Power 12 1000 Watt
Stock speed Prozzi (boost not even enabled and nice cold)
Ram runs with XMP profile 3600
    Soundcard AE-9PE

ah here. Windows 11 build 22000.1 not any blue screens or black screens at all. Stable.

How about you simply turn off AMD boost just to check? The boost from the CPU, not the GPU. Disable precision boost, too. For example, my CPU runs maximum 3,8ghz, which is totally okay for me. Cheers.

AMD did a nice piece of hardware, that will kill NVidia soon. Not yet, but AMD is on the right path. Mark my words. There is nothing better than buying AMD hardware these shiat days. And AMD will learn and prosper, be sure. I would buy AMD stocks. I bought my graphic card with interest, i wanted to have the 6800XT. I play on WQHD. Thats totally okay with me. Without stuttering. And finally on desktop it can go IDLE. With their latest drivers. On my 1080TI i never had that. 164HZ IDLE on desktop and watching movies or streams.

And here ladies and gentleman is another example of the doucheyness of being that guy who has no issues :/

Had 11 installed since last mondays beta, crashing apps, crashing chrome and a few gsod's

It was not the drivers or my install which i tried both upgrade and clean install and both uwp drive 27 xxx and 30 xxx and 21.6.1 all the same

I did not have any black or bluescreens with any AMD driver. NEVER. *shrug* maybe i dont overclock dunno. I posted my system. So you all can compare.

I wrote it before, why you just dont disable BOOST in your BIOS. Plus disable precision BOOST. Just it.
It could be many causes, the RAM too but thats another story.

Been using this driver since the day it came out and all my games are smooth as butter with zero crashes or issues.

This one is definitely a keeper for me.

    Win 10 Pro x64 21H1 1903.1081
    GPU @ 2500/2100 fast timings
    i7 8086k @ 5.2ghz all core
    1200W platinum TT toughpower

    Loving this GPU!

It should work correctly, I can't imagine why anyone would ever want to disable at (apart from false myths like SSD degradation etc.).

To delete shaders nonsense. Or disable them. I mean somebody told to disable them.

These drivers work great for me. Doom Eternal, max settings Ray Tracing on 3840x1080 avg 115-144fps depending on scene.

And just because that ***** talking about HL2 like its trash, im gonna fire up Vanilla HL2 and play it on this rig, because I cant stand

Solid driver so far, played Doom Eternal with RT mostly.

I am also mid-playthrough of Half-Life 2. HL2 is way better than most current games.

    Lol xd omg wtf

  20. Does forcing a PCI-E speed set the GPU to that speed, or does it affect something else? With GPU-Z, if you keep the PCI-E setting at Auto, what did it say the GPU was running at?

I did game profiles for Xfire and Evolve (and a tiny bit of Raptr) years ago, and even those apps had ways to differentiate HL2 and games that use the same executable names.
