Scalpers, crypto, Covid, component shortages; there are many reasons behind the fact that graphics cards have become a hard-to-get product. Add to that demand, as GPU sales have gone up almost 40% in ... GPU Sales went up 39 percent in 2020
120 Million units? Now divide that between all the miners and "influencers" I feel so warm and fuzzy inside. /s
Can people already stop with "scalpers and miners" The last year there are hundereds of millions people stuck at home with nothing better to do than play games - there would be a massive shortage even without miners. Its the same with PS5 you just cant get them without involving miners. Not to mention that a new console generation just came out and they have to share manufactoring capacity with gpu's.
The instant that cryptocurrency started losing value, tons of mining rigs with rtx 3000 series gpu started flooding the 2nd hand market... yes, it is primarily miners and scalpers using bots that got the gpus. Anyone claiming otherwise is either in on it, or ignorant AF.
Or you could look at the % and say component shortages what component shortages you have sold 39 % more so you must have had 39% more components.
Hell no. They still are the worst part of it. You have any idea how bad the sim market and steering wheels got last year. So its not just covid stay at home. Screw scalpers and miners.
There are tons on basically every auction site - they are just still being sold at scalper prices, even if they have been abused for mining.
this is true^ I can get any card I want locally I just can't afford one... RTX 3060 = $900 or 2 for $1600 https://i.**********/vY54v9fr/GC1600.png
Seems like an off the chart estimate to me--I can only believe these numbers if laptop sales are estimated. I know that I've been looking daily for > six months for discrete AMD GPUs on both the AMD store and NewEgg, and others---and I have yet to see a 6800XT that I could put in the cart for buying, though nor for lack of trying! The numbers only make some kind of sense if laptop sales constitute the bulk. Otherwise--no way, Jose'...
Yep... even on this danish only auction site, there are tons of rtx 30 cards being sold at scalper prices... https://www.dba.dk/computer-og-spil...software/grafikkort/?soeg=rtx+3080&fra=privat
Well they just talk general sales not who got the cards ... So they where able to produce 39% more cards than the last year and the majority of em went to sculpers and miners while the market demand was higher .... Well no wonder the prices are nuts.
My cousin who never buys anything for his PC(still has a GTX960 and an Ivy 3770) bought an entire Alienware PC with a 3090 so he could make $10 a day...... and here I am just wanting to buy some kind of 3k series card to help drive my 1440P monitor a little better.
Hmmm i think we haven't had the same vision of this year... Sure, people stayed at home and work at home, but there was NO discrete GPU to play and NO laptop at all to work at home in here, and in our 2 neighbour country. For both we had to get 2nd hand because there was NOTHING aviable. Then those too much GPU used FOR MINING, IS the cause of the shortage in electronic and so the PS5 and the XBox... Then scalper get the lefting GPU and sell them to sometime X5 the price, only (stupid) farmer can invest that price for a GPU. Maybe it's not direct consequence, but oculting so much the truth is something that event the chinese doesn't do.
