New Upcoming ATI/AMD GPU's Thread: Leaks, Hopes & Aftermarket GPU's

    AMD RDNA 3 Based Navi 31 Flagship Gaming GPU For Radeon RX Graphics Card Reportedly Almost 3x Faster Than Big Navi RDNA 2

    It looks like AMD's next-generation RDNA 3 'Navi 3X' GPUs for Radeon RX Gaming graphics cards are going to feature a much bigger gen-over-gen performance increase.
    Following up on his AMD Navi 33 GPU story, KittyYuko has now revealed that the flagship Navi 31 GPU is going to be one insanely powerful chip.Like the Navi 33 GPU which we reported yesterday,
    the AMD Navi 31 GPU will also be based on the RDNA 3 (GFX11) GPU IP. The Navi 31 GPU will be replacing the current flagship Navi 21 GPU and will be almost twice as large considering that it is going to feature a dual-chiplet design.
    We all think of the current Big Navi (21) GPU being an insanely powerful chip but based on the rumors we are now hearing for the next-generation parts, the Big Navi (31) GPU is going to make us forget the existing parts.

    Nothing I can confirm 100% now, but from what I know Navi 31 is a 80 CU chiplet and top SKU has 2 of them.

    In a reply to Paul Eccleston from RedGamingTech, KittyYuko stated that a 2.5x performance jump for the AMD RDNA 3 based Navi 31 GPU is too little.
    This suggests that the next-generation flagship could end up almost 3 times faster than the Navi 21 GPU. For comparison, the existing Navi 21 GPU features 80 compute units or 5120 stream processors.
    The chip also features Infinity Cache and has a die size of 520mm2 on the 7nm process node.

    3 times faster sounds like a bit of a stretch. I'd love to see it though.

    Considering that there are certain physical limits, those 2 chiplets will eat like 450W.
    One chiplet with same count of CUs will deliver 30~40% performance increase mainly thanks to power efficiency improvements as RDNA2 can already clock to 2.8GHz. It just can't stay there due to power limits and heat.
    Rest of performance gain will be from architecture changes.

    What should be expected in case of Chiplet design being true:
    - GPU Chiplets themselves hold no L3/IC
    - L3/IC die will be same for card with one 80CU chiplet and two 80CU chiplets (GPU with one chiplet will get a lot of extra cache per CU)
    - GPU chiplet for CPU socket
    - New I/O die for CPUs as it has to merge current L3+IF design into IC+IF design to maximize benefit for GPU die on CPU socket
    - Zen3+ cancelled because improvement seemed too small in comparison to design using New I/O die

    IBM Unveils World’s First 2 Nanometer Chip Technology, Opening a New Frontier for Semiconductors

    ALBANY, N.Y., May 6, 2021 — IBM (NYSE: IBM) today unveiled a breakthrough in semiconductor design and process with the development of the world’s first chip announced with 2 nanometer (nm) nanosheet technology.
    Semiconductors play critical roles in everything from computing, to appliances, to communication devices, transportation systems, and critical infrastructure.

    Demand for increased chip performance and energy efficiency continues to rise, especially in the era of hybrid cloud, AI, and the Internet of Things.
    IBM’s new 2 nm chip technology helps advance the state-of-the-art in the semiconductor industry, addressing this growing demand. It is projected to achieve 45 percent higher performance, or 75 percent lower energy use, than today’s most advanced 7 nm node chipsi.

    The potential benefits of these advanced 2 nm chips could include:

    • Quadrupling cell phone battery life, only requiring users to charge their devices every four daysii.
    • Slashing the carbon footprint of data centers, which account for one percent of global energy useiii. Changing all of their servers to 2 nm-based processors could potentially reduce that number significantly.
    • Drastically speeding up a laptop’s functions, ranging from quicker processing in applications, to assisting in language translation more easily, to faster internet access.
    • Contributing to faster object detection and reaction time in autonomous vehicles like self-driving cars.

    Coreteks: AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) to launch in June - VideoCardz.com

    According to Coreteks, a YouTuber who has leaked AMD content in the past, AMD FSR technology is already in developers’ hands and it should launch very soon.

    Coreteks claims that AMD FSR has already been distributed to game developers. This information has been confirmed by the YouTuber with a least with a few developers, including a smaller studio. There are still some questions on now AMD is going to implement the final version of FSR, as there seems to be a difference between the versions being distributed to game developers. For that reason, Coreteks is unable to provide clear information on possible performance uplift coming from the technology.

    unfortunately FSR is basically inferior to DLSS 2.0 in every way,

    and reinforces my view on not trusting RTG to live up to expectations where graphical features are concerned. :(

    Not even a moving picture and the blur is this bad at Quality setting.

    Just like dlss1.0 its going to improve and for a start i think it will be pretty good. Just wait for it.

    meybe the ultra quality preset will be decent but this quality one is pretty terrible

    depends if there's room to improve
    dlss depended on training,the technology was there.

    Yeah your right but AMD knows what they are doing, AMD can always add MS DirectML in FSR later since 6000 Series has DirectML support. AMD was force by Nvidia to release FSR 1.0 due to RT.
