To be honest, thinking about it for some time now, I'd really fancy playing Firestorm with the buddies again. If it gets f2p, I'll probably get it.

Its modern, but not overly futruristic. Its set like 30 or 20 years from now and the equipmemt/weapons are concept things currently either being tested now, suggested or in production. Apparently.
Why couldn't they just do a modern day bf... like bf4 / bf3... set in NOW, not 30 years into the future. That's what people want - not futuristic combat... as has been very apparent with the COD series. If it seriously got robot dogs and stuff like that, then it's gonna be a huge buzz killer for me.
Well yeah... but going by those logics, why did we even need something new after bf2 ? Bf4 is very old by now - 8 years. Major advances has been made since then. Just going from bf4 to bf1 is a massive increase in visual fidelity.
