Strange thing - I do not see "reflections (hybrid or pure RT)" setting among video settings in game. PS Maybe it is shown only for 30XX cards?
I don't think there is such a setting. Even og. Exodus had only RT Off, High, Ultra. You couldn't tweak individual RT settings. Actually Metro games have always had very minimal customization, just presets and maybe some settings in addition. I can check for myself in a few hours.
MFAA must be off in NVCP for this game. Some games like this, or Battlefield 5 freeze and crash when MFAA is on.
I just figured it out: if you set "High" for Quality it hides that reflection setting. I dislike user interface which hides settings instead of disabling them.
Oops, they did again: RT perf in Metro Exodus EE for RDNA2 is really good, but gimped by HairWorks™ "Looks like a nasty case of a billion triangles on HairWorks + RT triangle intersection overload. I suspect HairWorks does not get a simplified geometry model into the BVH acceleration structure like everything else. It retails the full triangle load within the AS, so each ray has to test against an excessive volume of triangles within a small area of a BVH. It seems like they are basically doing everything right in terms of RT. Occupancy's very good, TONS of async compute, RT is done with Inline-RT (as far as I can tell right now). It's extremely impressive." https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/n7e0gn/rt_perf_in_metro_exodus_ee_for_rdna2_is_really/ Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition - Raytracing Comparison - 35 Scenes
It's often just way too bright, like cyberpunk was with RT enabled at launch, before they adjusted brightness for RT. Like at 1.04 in the video... it looks decidedly worse with RT enabled. Seems like they need to turn that bounce lighting down by about a million notches.
Good read about differences around enhanced version. Interesting note is they used their own denoiser. May 6, 2021 IN-DEPTH TECHNICAL DIVE INTO METRO EXODUS PC ENHANCED EDITION — 4A Games (4a-games.com.mt)
Okay, fired it up. Defaulted to RT Ultra, DLSS off, VRS 2x and Quality High, which could be from my regular Exodus settings. Starting area performance ok, around 60 fps give or take. DLSS Off, note. The gamma / contrast does feel a bit off indeed and visuals didn't immediately wow me, but outside areas are probably better for that anyway. HOWEVER, the game seemed to detect my old save, but trying to hit Continue soft-locked the game. All right, I'll start a new game as I was gonna anyway, I thought, fully expecting I could resume the old save in regular Exodus. WELL, it seems I now have 2 save slots both at the beginning of the game only! Slot 1 was my old save as the last save time was in 2020. Don't have regular Exodus installed atm so can't verify but it certainly looks like EE overwrote my old save / slot as well and reverted it to beginning. Chapter selection with either slot gives only Intro and Moscow now. Add to that even changing FOV in the main menu results in that long Applying changes... and FOV is a notched slider without numbers... they definitely went for authentic slav-jank experience there. All in all not the best first impression, not least because of that save game issue. Last the mouse input felt laggy, don't remember having issues with input with regular edition. So TL;DR be warned if you have your old Exodus saves. Hopefully cloud syncing via regular Exodus can restore my save... EDIT: perhaps for the better EE doesn't seem to have Steam Cloud saves...
The original Metro Exodus also had problems with mouse lag. At the time I managed to fixed it, editing the yser.cfg file. Fortunately, these tweaks also work well in this Enhanced version. Go to: %USERPROFILE%\Saved Games\metro exodus\ Open user.cfg Then change: "sens_border" to 2 And change "mouse_curve_num" and "mouse_curve_coef" to 0 Save and play.
Maybe so but like said I found the mouse input in vanilla Exodus better / acceptable at least. Besides if this is so called "PC Enhanced" Edition then .ini tweaks shouldn't be needed. Especially for a game that worked already in its vanilla form. I'll probably keep playing regular edition. IF my save is still intact that is.
Its a shame all the postcards, diary pages and letters carry over from the original, as i wanted to get them all again. Can't wait to set the nappies on fire, and watch them breakdance again
Ive not had any crashes yet, although just got to The Volga. I did have the odd one in the original, like when shovelling the coal into the firebox on the train, but thats a known one.
They have the exact same issue. Probably you were running the original at a higher frame rate. In this game there is a huge diference in mouse lag, depending on frame rate.
I had to stop using DLSS with this version. The amount of RT noise was really distracting even on Ultra RT and Quality DLSS. Apparently, it is an issue with RT on this version of the engine. I have never seen this happening this badly in Cyberpunk. But without DLSS it looks absolutely gorgeous. I only had blurriness with the original, so I wasn't using DLSS either. Shame, cause the loss of frames without it.
Anybody elses watch got the wrong time, and also running fast ? Pretty sure the original was timed with your system clock, and ran normal, but just started playing this one at around qtr 7, and my watch was at about 9am, and every couple of seconds, it was doing minutes.
