Looks like nvidia kepler gpus cant even start the game. I though they had full support dx12.

Amd gcn1.0 also supports only 11.1 but it can run the game. There is something else going on with kepler arch preventing game to run. It works on 750ti but thats maxwell.

Sorry, my mistake, but kepler has support for FL 11.0
GCN 1.0 has support for FL 11.1.
Maxwell first Gen (750) is also FL11.1

    Maybe this is the problem.

Demo ran great on my ancient PC at maxed out 1440p settings at well over 60 fps except for the sections where there were swarms of insects from the female vampire and then the framerate would tank hard to 40 fps for a split-second. Probably need to tweak one or two settings for that but otherwise it is nice to know that I can still play new games on my 2013 built PC with a five year old GTX 1080 Ti. Sure, I lose ray-traced lighting and reflections but, honestly, having played the demo with ray-tracing enabled on my PS5, I don't think there is a massive difference in the look of the game between the two modes anyway. Sure, reflections are nicer and you can notice them during the slower exploration parts of the game but there do not massively transform the game in any way in my opinion.

Just tried the demo out of curiosity, had no problems holding a consistent 60fps @1440p with high settings. Set the texture resolution to 4gb and set the other effects until I was utilizing all 6gb of Vram. My monitor can do 95hz, but in many games I'd rather just have the solid 60 instead of bouncing around to 70, 80, 90 , then back down to 60 etc.

They pretty much rely on encryption which then is bound to system IO efficiency to unencrypt it on launch.

Most other platforms never bothered with that (GOG/EGS) and they just preload raw files without actual executable.
I guess Steams approach made sense ~10 years ago where internet speed was more of a bottleneck than IO efficiency but with current game sizes it's the other way around.

    Same here.

Even when I had a 420 Mbps connection, I could still down the game on Stream post-release much quicker than it took for the pre-load to unpack even to my SSDs. Typically, a 50 GB+ game could take 30 minutes or more to "unlock" before I can play it. Now I only download post-release, which is even quicker now since I upgraded my fibre to 940 Mbps.

Game is getting really good reviews so far. Can't wait to play and review it. (minus the RT cos performance is king)

Rt is really subtle. 2070S is capable running it and still achieve high enough fps so there is that.

When the lighting is done right, you don't notice the lighting at all, because it looks natural.

I agree it does look natural but in poorly lit areas traditional rasterization starts to look better so you question the whole thing.
