Yes. Microsoft built in opengl support is a software driver up to OGL 1.4 (and I am not even sure if it still part of the OS), but otuside that Windows Update should not bring drivers for non-DirectX APIs (like OpenGL, OpenCL, OpenAL, Vulkan etc) since those APIs are not part of the WHQL certification.

Drivers are not property of Microsoft. WHQL means nothing for the package given through WU. Nor MS Store Radeon Software is property of Microsoft either. I cannot understand what are you trying to imply. All applications with their corresponding APIs are working after DDU clean installation.

The one and only ecosystem hardlocked with DirectX, is Xbox. Not Windows as far as I am aware of.

I gonna get ride of my 6900xt if they don't fix the issue with Skyrim enb real soon. I have send error reports, but as it is custom content, I doubt they even border.

They won't care for 0.01% gamers who play modded Skyrim.

That has been an issue even for newer nvidia cards, so it's not a driver side problem (well it might be), but it just doesn't work as good on newer cards. Most likely its the mod update which ruined something, or simply the generation leap which happened.

have you tried different enb versions? I remember seeing somewhere that the later version had issues on newer hardware. I haven't tried skyrim in a while but I have been modding a few other games with enb's and had no issues on my 6800XT.

    Damn, that sucks.

Maybe if you replace it at system level it could work.
You can do that via booting into Windows in "Safe mode with command prompt" option.
Then replace it in "C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository\u0365828.inf_amd64_b43c34264cfa354d\B365822" if not mistaken (searching yielded this place) (that's for the driver in THIS particular thread)

Yeah that should work, but I would lose the fixes of the new driver? If so I can go back to an older driver too. Well, thanx for the effort. I probably keep am early 21.x driver at hand, when I'm in a desperate move to play Oldrim :)

Sadly, only one way to know is that you test it.

Skyrim (Oldrim and SE) are simpley so much fun esp the tweaking with new mods and enb + reshade RTGI made it one of the most beautiful, and pleasurable games play with.
There is no game which you can tweak and mod so much to have so many different looks every time you wish, that really made it my hobby.

At 5K, lots of mods with a full featured enb+RTGI, even two R6900XT's (if CF would still be alive) would not be enough to get 60 fps. I cann't miss them due AMD's faulty drivers :D

And ofcourse I have 300+ fully reshade+RTGI injected games to warrant GPU power.;)
