The 5800x is often out of stock in Canada too but you can buy it without using a bot when the stock arrive it stays in stock for a few days and the price is slowly getting close to MSRP. But yeah the 5900x is nowhere to be found. But the 5900x is kind of overkill unless you buy it to build a cheap workstation.

Sometimes you got to go back to actually move forward.

    ...

But not here :D This baby is pulling more watts than AMD with twice the number of cores, go figure.

Underwhelming. The performance is good but no better than the 10xxx series and Ryzen is still a little faster. No point on talking about the power figures, they are terrible and everyone knows it.

The saving grace could be availability and better prices than Ryzen, otherwise no point on buying this.

Personally, i think it´s better to buy a 10xxx series CPU at a lower price than this ones unless someone really needs PCI4.

    Great review as always!

Man! It's not me, it's Intel... They advertised RL to be the generation to get the "King of gaming" title back to themselves. I really don't give a s.it if AMD or Intel is 5% faster in gaming in FHD with the current highend GPU. But if You remember, when Intel had this advantage against Zen, Zen Plus or Zen 2, the blue fans were saying Intel is worth every extra penny as it's the king of gaming. Now, that's exactly the same for Zen 3 and I hope those guys still think and say the same. :)

the most impressive thing about Rocket Lake to me is the work HH has put into reviewing it.

i feel sorry for all of the people who unintentionally buy this as part of a new oem system thinking they're getting the best.

Completely underwhelming performance for the 11900k. And they want roughly $615 for it? Are you kidding me with that price tag?

For the performance difference you mind as well get a 10900k if you must stick with Intel. Or get the 5800x on AMD's side.

There is no way $615 is sustainable MSRP for a 8 core monolithic die with that amount of latency and power requirements. Anyone who does buy it (as I do see stock) is spending stimchecks for it.

The 10900 is a better deal than the 11900k. 10 cores @ $379 at Amazon.

Power efficiency on these is one of the worst of the decade. Overclocking is big no no. 6 score pushing 260W... 100W idle.
Honestly i didn't believe it is even possible.

Ouch, better pony up for a premium grade cooler if you get one of these.

iGPU + TB4 + AVX-512. For gamers there is 10700KF that is cheaper than 5800X. And 10700 that is cheaper than 5600X.

11900k sux, but it's better than people think with faster memory :)

But hey, this is a cpu for gaming right?

Strange noone test rocketlake with faster memory. It even does 5866mhz xmp with g.skill prototype.

Screw this cpu, should have been 10 core minimum, 12 core if they wanted to try compete.(instead of just milking us)

Indeed you are correct. Perhaps many here are still "hanging-on" to their older discrete GPU waiting for the never-ending plight to go away? Or the return to the MSRP days. As such no need of importance given to the iGPU subject. Also many here are heavy gamers or power-users and a iGPU performance is in no need for discussion given their requirements and the little it does for their coveted frame-rates.

I got a taste of intel's new igpu power on my ice lake lappy, very impressive (mw2 the original 1080p smooth as butter)

Please find me test with full igpu load + cpu load. Socket will melt without proper cooling :D

how much cpu power will you need to drive that igpu ?
are you thinking or not ? apparently not.

20 game average system power consumption.
    good grief....

60w more during gaming? That's worse than imaginated. Thats like powering extra 5600X.

Terrible. Just stick to 10700kf or something similar. Skippylake.
