I wonder how this compares to their other coolers. They all look so similar.

Let's hope its performance is better than the NH-D15, but without being noisier.

I Am positive if you mount it well enough it will stiĺ go head to head or do well enough versus a hyper 212 evo etc.

Used a lot of Thermalright coolers in builds before AIO's became more popular, they were one of the best in those days.

omfg yes, I had that one with a delta fan on it. The 5000 rpm delta fan drove my parents nuts xD

Oh god yea 100% it would.

true23.jpg this thing had 6 heat pipes

unnamed.jpg and that clip on fan housing! :D

basically reminds me of the current Noctua NH-U12A only that had 7 heatpipes and room for an additional fan.

Well I remember having the 120 extreme on a Q6600 G0 @ 3.6GHz and that puppy never over heated in the 3 years I ran that CPU. I then recycled the cooler and used it on an i7 960 D0 @ 4.2GHz and I remember leaving it running Prime95 small fft all evening and night for 12 hours and it was locked at 65C. It was at the time the best performing most stable overclock I ever had on a CPU.

I'll never forget that. It's the same reaction I had when I had a GTX480 reference model and took off the stock cooler and replaced it with an Arctic Accellero III cooler and the max temp went from something like 80C and sounding like a jet engine to 55C and being whisper quiet. I'll never forget that either.

Is that made in license from Noctua?

    Exactly!!!
When I looked at it I thought that it is a rebranded Noctua...
It seems that if you can't beat them you can replicate them.

Back in November last year, a cooler appeared on AlliExpress, under the name Thermalright Frost Spirit 140, which seems extremely similar to this new Frost commander, i bought one and was doing a 5900x build so ended comparing it to my Noctua NH-D15s, ran aida64 stress test for 1hour, they are very similar in performance, tested with the included fans, and some TY147B that i had so i could compare the cooler itself, these where the results,

    Noctua vs Thermalright.JPG SimMi.jpg

Take my results with a grain of salt, as only ran them once, but the cooler performs very close to NH-D15s for less money, although with the same fans, the Noctua was slightly better, well with in margin of error.
