Convince me why I should not get a 5600x....I dare you!

3800x would be significant already zen1/1+ were weak gaming cpus, and no way to run over 3200mhz,3800x + ddr4 3800 and you're good to run a 3090 no problem.

10-15% is not insignificant, and on top of that,r3000 has the ability to tweak ram over 3200mhz.so in the end pretty big increase.

3800x at 280 eur I say go for it.it's definitely at least 15% increase just for the cpu upgrade, more to come from ram.And I'm talking on average.Take a look at individual results, not uncommon to see 25-30%.

You can do cpu now and ram later.Save up for a decent b-die bin from viper steel/black.Don't bother with hynix.
just make sure you have a decent cooler,3800x runs hawt!

also, do not buy second hand, those early 7nm cpus were prone to degradation if ran at high voltages.and no one buys 3800x over 3700x without the intent to OC.

It is a second hand becouse you cant find new one at 270-280euros. 3700x and 3800x cost the same here so its a no brainer. I still think those are not worth it over 2700x btw.

If i didnt had x570 board i would probably swap to intel. That 10700k looks sweet right now.

it is absolutely worth it,especially the 3800x since you are getting:

    +higher ipc
    +lower latency/bigger cache
    +higher clocks
    +higher memory speeds
    +pci-e 4.0

it smashes 2700x,not only in gaming.
but do not buy a used one unless you think it's worth risking 280 eur for a used one. like I said, early 7nm was prone to degradation with high volgates, and 3800x was mainly bought for overclocking.it's fine if you know the seller didn't torture it.

    250eur for a new 10700f,lovin it.
I think r5000 backfired for value buyers.
it's very pricey, and ryzen 3000 prices didn't drop much either. On the other hand intel is having an all out sale on 10th gen.

    I've been running a 3800x x570 with SSD M2's for a a year and a half. I game at 1440p.

It is simply a blazing fast pc at everything I do with it for home use. No need for a 5000 cpu for me.

People upgrade when they feel like they need to and/or when they have the necessary funds. Spending $500 or more is not just a casual buy for everyone especially right now.

Related to topic not gonna lie I've been eyeing the 5600X even if I have 3800X now.

Many reviews show it to have notably better gaming performance.
Granted wouldn't perhaps make as much difference with my 2070 but I do game at 1080p and aim for high fps.

Thing is I'd need a new mobo too or to use an unofficial BIOS for current one.
There are modded BIOSes available for lots of 300 and 400 series ASRock boards:

Better buy a decent 1440p monitor instead and wait for ddr5 platform later this year.

I'm probably not gonna get the 5600X but thing is I'm looking to "max" my current build, ie. best possible (within reason) CPU and GPU.

Which if prices and availability weren't so bad, would be 5600X or 5800X - should the mod bios work - and Radeon 6800.

I'm sticking with 1080p because if I wanted to do 1440p high refresh then I'd need an even faster GPU and possibly 5900X or 5950X to go with it.

Not to mention a new high refresh rate VRR 1440p monitor.

I'm looking to build a finalized system with current mobo and then use it for as long as possible.
I'm not as active a gamer anymore and most of my games run fine now, but some games would need a bit more oompf to reach that 100+ fps sweet spot.

It's likely I won't do a complete system overhaul in several years, if ever.

I would also not go with 5600x so that would be 5800x minimum in your case. Still at these prices its better to keep what you have and wait for the ddr5/am5.

As for 1440p i think 2070 will do fine and you should probably think about. You wont need such a fast cpu when your always gpu bottlenecked. There is very substantial difference in picture quality compared to 1080p.

@AsiJu there is no speed difference for game upwards of 5800X ; Even between 5600X and 5800X there is just a small diff.

I actually think 5800X can be smoother than both Ryzen 9's due to the single coherent cache, unlike 59N0X which have two chiplets, so games might jump threads to the other chiplet, creating stutters.

    yeah 1080p is garbage
even on a 21.5" it's way too fugly unless you purely don't care about image quality.I ditched fhd in 2014,as soon as I got a half decent card to run it med-high.I think I ran it on 7870XT Ghz.
btw the card overclocked like a beast 1000->1200mhz on stock voltage.

I started finalizing my build by getting some rad G.Skill Trident Z Neo 3600 CL14 memory :)

Not a massive difference over current (3000 / CL14) but I'll take all I can.
Pretty expensive but I thought I'd get the fastest set I find, up to 3733 as after that FCLK gets mismatched. Not to mention prices shoot up even more.

Another reason was simply due to vanity = modules fit the color scheme of my build better than current ones!
    Yes have RGB too.

(Also ordered a glass side panel for my Define R5 but it was out of stock so it'll come some day, perhaps.
I'm starting to get into this "bling" thing...)

I'll surely try how high it can go for the heck of it!

For that price it better be a good kit, lols. Should be a Samsung B-die set too:
