I agree but when you arent going to get another for a year maybe, you will suck a little poison. I spent approaching 3 months trying to get a 3080 before I jumped on an in stock high end 3090. It came with a scratched surface but thats the bug I have to bear if I want to game. RMAing sucks and with the current situ isnt going to be quick!
I have a feeling it might actually be my PSU, but I do find that strange though. However the under voltage keeps my temps lower and I didn't sacrifice the boost clock which remains the same so I really haven't lost anything. So I'm happy
I agree, but I have no idea what it could be other than the PSU. I'll have to test it out with another PSU.
When I first got my 3090 my rig would reboot when benching heavy. Replaced my ax850 Corsair and went totally overkill with a ax1600i Corsair and no more reboots, just saying. Very expensive but I’m good for years.
Yeah I'll have to wait for to buy that as other expenses are now more important. Do you think with my undervolt I should be ok? Card runs cool and clock get maxed to the boost speed and I can play for hours constantly with no crashes or restarts. I think for some time ill be ok.
If its stable you are fine. If not, then it cannot cause damage, it will need adjusting until stable.
What Mufflore said. Does sound like psu clean power efficiency is getting unstable the higher the power draw and causing the hard reboot, imho. WOW!!, just checked price of ax1600i, insane prices from Amazon third party sellers, wow. Got mine around $550 bucks from Amazon itself. I see Corsair $559 but out of stock.
I find impressive that this happened to you. Initially I put a 5950x and a 3090 on a 7-year old EVGA 750G2, and I didn't get a single freeze. I thought that the AX850 could do this with ease.
I hear ya, very surprised myself. No problems at all with it during normal gaming with moderate oc. Maybe a questionable ax850 and a heavily oc rig and 3090 was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Never had a freeze, screen went black and instantly went right to reboot. Like someone pulled the plug.
A little update for the Inno3D iChill x4. While there are other 3090s out there, this one is mine I monitored temps while playing RDR2 with HDR on and everything to the absolute max except tree tessellation. The max hot spot temp I got was 88C, same as the max memory temp. My memory is clocked at +400. I don't really have complaints with the cooling. Keep in mind though this is in a O11 Dynamic XL with 10x fans with adaptive profiles from 600-1300rpm.
Could look better but it works: https://i.imgur.com/5IJJzXV.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zfajJL5.jpg https://i.imgur.com/rmWatJf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/GgHUJCr.jpg
What are your settings? Do you have Vsync on? Are you talking about core or hotspot? I get 88C on Hotspot+VRAM, core is ~68-69C.
Resizable BAR vbios are out for some gpus like GALAX/GAINWARD https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/metuew/gainward_galaxy_update_nvidia_resizable_bar_tool/
This is a fail from Nvidia they promised end of March yet here we are still no Resize bar CPU can do it, mobo has it activated yet my 3090 cant, not good Nvidia claimed it was a simple turn on item seems thats not the case
