Sorry, I don't understand... What is this DPC Latency? Why low values are better?

A low DPC latency is what we are aiming for, but it’s not just a low mean value, but a constantly low number without any spikes. It’s the spikes in latency that will cause audio or video to stutter, skip, crackle, or pop (only a good thing if you developing a new Rice Krispies commercial). A good system would have no latency spikes above 250 μs.

You have to go a bit deeper into how your PC (and OS) works to actually understand this entirely, though for you and most Consumer it's only important that it can become nasty in several usage scenarios as Gazebo pointed it out :)
If you happy with the Performance of your System and it does what you want you shouldn't care about anything of what is discussed here, if you want to go deeper into the rabbit hole and learn something (aside from how to point and click) then this is the right place to be currently, because the move from XP to Vista/Win7 is a dramatic one in combination with a GPU, Power saving and Balanced Performance as well as computational features (and very exciting for a Geek). Especially when all these things come together Multicore, Power Saving and GPU and Memory Management it becomes really interesting (on Vista/Win7 as well as any other OS that utilizes the GPU more then for Games) :D

Yeah but if it means we get better drivers then let them take as long as they need. In the long run we will be the ones benefiting the most :)

Mafia II and Blur are as choppy as hell on these drivers for me, real pity.

    Everything else move like lightening!

in wow the iq seems worse with more jaggies and blurry textures, but it seems smooth so i guess they lowered aa af which gives better speed maybe on my system anyway.

They're really bad for Mafia II, i lost 10fps on avg in benchmark mode and towards the end of the benchmark it hoovered around 15-25, otherwise its 25-35fps with 259.32..

So some didn't wait till the beta's then :p , was rather pointless trying these drivers as they didn't contain any upcoming fixes that the betas/final will

What sort of problems were folks getting with GTX 460s and this driver anyways?

I just built my new system with SLI 460s and put this driver on it immediately and I was having issues with the system becoming unresponsive or blue screening. I thought it was a hardware problem but after seeing some posts here and in the other thread where these were first found I have rolled back to the 258s and i "think" my problems are gone.

Its really scary when a software glitch can make me think my hardware is bad....

Ahhhh Mafia II slowdowns. Too bad that game only lasted 4-6 hours. I've had no intention on going back through the game either. Was a great experience for a one time play through only for me.

I had the exact same experience with the 259.47 driver with my system "460 GTX SLI". The system would sometimes black screen with a bluescreen error in the log when the screensaver came on and when i ran sisoft sandra GPU tests.
I unistalled the driver and reinstalled the 258.96 and the system has been stable since.
So for me this driver is no good but i have high hopes for the 260 driver that i coming out next week.
