Even better, if GPU works full load 3 months, it triggers a short circuit shutting down the system.

So this took what, 2 weeks for this "unbypassable" restriction to be bypassed. Not that I'm surprised.

I think it's safe to say that the general consumer won't see easily purchasable, reasonably priced video cards anytime soon, if ever again.
Miners would probably pay even higher prices as they can just mine the money back.

Didn't a certain study state that at this rate miners will consume like one third of world's electricity in a decade or so?

But of course making money while sitting on your ass doing nothing is extremely respectable, not to mention noble.

Ffs... this planet will end because of personal profiteering, mark my words.

Not surprised on the outcome on this at all, however,

    Thanks for sharing otherwise.

I guess Nvidia felt like the publicity stunt did what it was supposed to do and it's the time to let go.

More than likely it affected other software aside from mining.

Gamers and reviewers can tell this days, they can see through their bs. Problem is that there is still no consequences.

Probably the first thing that crossed my mind when they originally announced this. What are the chances their ethash detection methods are just perfect enough to not affect anything else, now, or at any point in the future. Would've been pretty hesitant buying a GPU with something like this enabled.

Well yeah because we can not really punish em, both amd and Nvidia making bank now with miners , as far as you are gaming you are going to have to buy a product they profit from sooner or later, consoles or pc. :(

well there wouldnt be any miners, if there were no digital currencies (that dont have any financial backing like banks).
(financial) immigrants enter countries because they know someone will them (cash) for "untaxed" jobs..

It's not an incompetent move by nvidia, it's a scumbag move from them to try and look like the good guys while throwing sand in the consumer's eyes.

I just don't get how they "lied and screwed gamers" - even if they are removing the restriction, we're in the same position as we were pre restriction.. except for maybe two weeks where 3060's hopefully ended up mostly in gamers hands.

What % of cards being produced are even going to miners? Nvidia's estimates are low and Steam survey backs up the idea that many of these cards are actually in gamers hands.. unless miners are installing steam on their rigs for some reason.

I get that people perceive a problem with this but I don't. I use my 3080 for mining. It's not like someone serious about mining isn't already going to know or consider it. So basically changes nothing.
