Up to this point, I still see the 5600x as a fantastic chip and would rather take that over many of the 8 cores. For one, its higher IPC often makes up for its 2 lesser cores vs many of the 8 core chips, even the 3700x. Its also the sweet spot for gaming where its on par with the 5900x. And the icing on the cake, its a cool running, low power chip.

overclockers.co.uk has had stock of both Ryzen 5800X (£420) and 5600X (£330) for a few months now, I've been watching stock regularly. Either people haven't realized yet, or, they're not flying off the shelves as expected? On the other hand, I know a lot of people are more interested in the 5900X and 5950X, but, I haven't seen stock of those 2 yet.

Meanwhile, Intel cpu stock looks good and 10700K (£320) seems very popular. The 10-core 10850K (£380) also seems like a decent buy for the money. It's obvious Intel needs a smaller-node to move forward though.

It's going to get very interesting to see where we are in the next 12months. The dust is nowhere near settled yet.

In Portugal we also have some stock of the 5600x and 5800x around those prices but they don´t seem too attractive to me.

I would consider a 5600x below 300€ and a 5800x below 400€, more than that i find it difficult to look at them.

Surely but there is still value in more cores in even these tasks but yes I know especially cuda is really good

I gave my sister my I7980(had a lot more money back then) it's still ticking and one of the best platforms I've ever owed was X58. Plus it was the final generation of bus speed OCing that I miss dearly.

The 3600x is a pretty good deal for $199 on Newegg right now.

I used it on some amateur video work with my former 5775c
night and day when cuda acceleration is enabled.it's like having your cores doubled.

Prescott is where i switched to AMD. Then i did not return to Intel until the release of the Core i5 750. And then i stayed on Intel until the release of Ryzen. Looks like i'll be on Ryzen for at least another round.

Prescott made most of us switch to AMD. I had been burnt by Intel before (RDRAM...ugh...I deserved it), but then gave Prescott the benefit of the doubt. It successfully cured me of any brand loyalty I may have harboured, but hey, I was young and dumb. I did go back to Intel when Conroe dropped, while still running AMD alongside it, but switched entirely back to Intel with Gulftown. Now that I'm old and cynical, I'm only loyal to performance that fits my specific needs, so here I am on Zen 3. Full circle.

do people read the actual news anymore ? or just the titles.

anandtech said the problem was latency, this one tests old bios, then says there is a new one that improves latency at the end....

don't worry r5000 owners, rkl is coming for your ass soon enough :D just let them sort latency out
