Id say 10900f us better pick. Much more future proof.

really ? 10 cores over 8 much more futureproof ?
it's a nice choice imo,you don't have to run high voltages and those 2 extra cores compensate a little, per core usage in games is lower too so it's easier to keep temps in check.
but realistically 10 vs 8 isn't much more futureproof.
    8 vs 6 is.

8cores being the sweet spot 10900kf isnt worth considering if there is something faster like 11700k or 5800x. 10cores wont make a difference ingames and by the time it does it will be outdated.

    yup
while having 10/12 cores like 10900 or 3900/5900 is nice, 8 is the right amount. 6 is more like a budget option if you wanna get something that'll run decent imo,but even with my 2070S at 1440p I've seen 6/12 hit pretty high usage.wouldn't pay over 200eur for a sixcore now.
im thinking about 10700f at 240eur.should do fine for 3-4 years and it's relatively cheap.
it's tough times for amd buyers though,5600x's cost 350eur,last gen isn't cheap either.bascally no value options. imo 3800x at 285 eur is the best one,but it's still almost 50 eur more than 10700f and I don't think it'll beat it conclusively.

3700x is left in the dust

3700x is even cheaper today. I've seen 3800x being 299$ similar to 10700f. That said 5600x beats all of them at that price maybe little more.

why are you using usd prices in europe ? 10700f is 100eur cheaper. granted it's a little faster for gaming now,but 350 for a sixcore ...... no way

anyway.just ordered 10700f.prices have been dropping for a while and I don't think I'm getting it any cheaper, tbh I'm more worried about shortages once 11th gen drops and leaves us unimpressed.
still have 30 days to return,I don't think I'll even be unpacking it before rkl reviews and prices are out.

playing it safe.might decide to keep it or return if 11700 price isn't too high, but I'm very, very satisfied with what 10700f will cost me at the checkout.

thought about 10900f but nah.price difference is higher for what I would get in return,2 extra cores and same 4.6G all core turbo.rather buy another 16g b-die kit for the price difference,of course once they drop back to the same price I paid for them last summer.

there is some benefit from running single rank memories in 4x1 config too.

The 2 and 4 extra cores on 10900k and 5900x is maybe worth it for some with a few background programs running when playing.

There is no rule on what is the best for everyone. Buy whatever is best for YOU, that is the best :)

the whole system and a game can run 4/8
you don't need 8 threads for background tasks

Gaming while having open multiple tasks and apps and 1440p youtube video going in the background can actually push 16threads to its limits. Im not one of those who close everything when starting a game.

Few games like Cyberpunk, AC Vallhalla push 16threads to 70% by itself. You just didnt force it properly or you play not such a cpu heavy games.

    that is true.
10500 could go up to 80% in odyssey with a 2070 super.
put a 3070 or even a 3060ti in there, both upper mid range (by design at least), and you're pushing a sixcore to use over 90% on individual threads.especially on ryzen the way their cpus tend to load best core more heavily.

the sad part is that I could switch to Intel from my 3700x with a new mobo and cooler for not much more than a 5800x if they did that

Take some workload which has specific threading capability, like spawning certain number of threads for each task. This number of threads is going to cause same CPU utilization on all 8C/16T CPUs as long as CPU is being bottleneck.

Why does 10700F has much higher utilization than 3700X in CP2077?
Why does 3700X has much higher utilization than 10700F AC:Valhala?
And all those videos show that one gets much higher utilization than other without any consistence.
Something in the video is not right. And it would not be 1st YT channel which posts fake videos while just overlaying text for GPU or CPU names.

doesn't r3000 pick the best cores and let others sit at very light loads ?
    you're right tho

this is a channel I trust and there ain't much difference in usage between 3700x and 10700k despite differences in fps can be significant at times

just went through the latter video I linked
you're right, the first one is either weird or fake

in the legitimate one 10700k leads 3700x by 16.5% on average, but pause the video at any moment, you'll never see above 5% difference in usage, usually 2-3% even if the performance varies significantly.
only 5600x is noticeably higher, very often in the 75-85% range, despite being the fastest single thread.
so glad Im finally getting an octa, wanted one since 9900 (not the year).
