Seeing reviews of the 5000 series, some benchmark still show the 10700/10900k going toe to toe with the 5000 series in games. I am under the impression that games favor single core performance but why is this the case? Is it because these games are GPU limited? and when stronger GPUs arrive the 5000 series will pull ahead even more? yeah they look gpu bound, i would like to see cpu tests run at 960x480 to completely GPU remove bottlenecks. (BUT !....wait for it...)
Games such as DX11 or lower will prefer single-core boost speeds because they use a single core for rendering duties such as feeding draw calls to the GPU. This is what DX12 and Vulkan came about for, to fix. DX12 and Vulkan games hence won't be so limited by the max speed a single core can go.
