That´s allways the case with benchmarks. They are o.k. for a quick comparison, maybe to get a kind of first "impression", and that´s it. Buying a CPU/ GPU will allways be an act of balance depending on your needs, price and sadly nowadays on "availability" no matter, AMD, Intel or nvidia.

Remember a loooooong time ago, when hardware was sold for much lower than "MSRP"?

1700x and 2700x are a ridiculous cpu, he lose to my ancient i7 2700k overclocked, only 3000 and 5000 series are really good

    not really,GN showed them very close w. 2600K at 4.7G on ddr3 1600
push it to 5G and get some 2133 c9 ram it's gonna be pretty much the same as 1700x OC with 3000 ddr4

like I said, you need to cherry pick scenario where a cpu like 1700 will really stretch the lead with its 8 slow cores and memory limitations, which is exactly what some YT channles are doing.Just cause a game will use 8-12 cores doesn't mean they're gonna scale equivalently.

see the video I linked w. 5800x,it's pretty common to see 5800x 2-2.5x faster than 1700x in min. fps despite it's also an 8 core. You really think it's gonna be close to 10900k ? with all due respect, you can't call somebody else's posts "stupid" if you believe these results.
If anything, going by GN's test, his claim is pretty grounded in an actual cpu test.

    still,1600af is 1000 series not 2000 series.

yes, i have one 2700k 4.7ghz with 2133mhz cl9 ram and him destroys the ryzen 2700x, its very ridiculous, i´m buyed 1800x and later 2700x to substitute the old 2700k on my second pc but i selled both processors few days later, very weak performance

    you seem to have everything

no,1000 an 2000 are not garbage, the fact you bought them and sold them because of gaming performance tells me you haven't done research more than anything.

when 1700x launched it wasn't really better than a 4790k I had at that time. Why would you buy it then ? Just to complain about amd ? Seems ridiculous.

I believed in marketing and expected he beat my old 2700k because have double of threads, you never find a decent comparison using a good ddr3 ram with him, but i can see by myself how 2700x are ridiculous

I have 5900x and 10900k, and there is no problem to get the 5900x to "suck" in gaming if you want. There is also no problem to get 5900x to be a beast at gaming, like 10900k. The main key is:

    -Tweaking memory
    - Use all core overklokk
    -Turn off powersaving
    - Turn off SMB/Hyperthreading in some games

Both cpu's overclocked to the "max" on memory and core, they both are pretty much equal in cpubound gaming.

So if i5 10400f it beats ryzen 5900x in gaming, then the 5900x owner is a noob in tweaking :)

marketing ? when was 1st gen ryzen ever marketed for gaming

what tweaking does 5900x need to beat 10400f ?
it needs to be put the right side up and that's it

Well there is MANY noobs that will manage to do it... Like running auto 2133mhz memory LOL. Latency will skyrocket, and even 6 years old cpu's will be faster in cpu bound gaming scenarios.

    okay big boy
    it does seem like they,ekhm,"stretched" that -2% vs. 8700k at 1080p :p
    by good 15%

still, your claiming to buy 1700x and selling it the next day cause it's that bad....

I'm buying almost every cpu, because overclocking and testing hardware is my hobby. This way I know how good the cpu's actually are, instead of believe and thinking.

I also know that first gen Ryzen suck in gaming compared to cpu's like 8700k. 8700k with 4400mhz tweaked memory is still hard to beat :)

My old 1800x had no chance with only 3200c14 memory and 4ghz all core. Benchmarked with 3600c16 memory and 4.1ghz all core, but still no chance in cpubound games.
