I won't even consider this game before getting a new video card. No point in playing a game that's meant to look good with graphics settings turned all the way down.

thank you, thank you, thank you for the time and effort.

i'm more than a little jealous of that 5950x (i'm still waiting).
the really surprising thing to me is here is a game perfectly designed for my two year old laptop. which i mean in a good way i suppose. there's also the geek factor of being a fanboy. i had the luxury of waiting for the mobile version of the rtx 2070 after sussing out the AIB cards in HH's shoot-outs.

but finally there's a multi-core optimized RT game that isn't as subject to cpu bottlenecking. thank god developers are (finally, at last) catching up.

Running 5950x + ASUS TUF 3080 OC and performance is terrible from my pov - not to mention there isnt a correlation between settings and fps... something is broken and tanking fps for no reason...
for example I can look at a scene with a lot of RT effects and long view distance and get 80fps (with crappy DLSS on 1080p :-( ) and turn around to look at a wall or the sky where nothing is happening and instead seeing my fps jump to 144+ It stays the same around 80... just doenst make sense....

It does the raytracing calculations globally, regardless of what you are looking at... so yeah, fps will be pretty consistent with raytracing enabled.

I tried 720p and Im still very gpu bottlenecked lol, that said fast ram can help, unlike that 2666mhz they used in that German review.

At low 720p I hoover ~95fps, cpu usage 60-80% across all 12 threads.

    I use 3600mhz CL16 @ 3960mhz CL16

its called terrible optimization - It reminds me of BF5 when it came out and RT sucked - they worked closely with NVIDIA to properly optimize it and not simply glue it all together like Cyberpunk is right now...
Anyways - when I turn off RT I see lower fps than i turn off dlss and get same fps that i did with DLSS+RT... so something is weird about this game....

    procreating scalpers.

It’s sad I will have to play it on my 2060 laptop to use DLSS in 1080p for good frame rates.

Hilbert, are you going to test CPUs too? I think it´s going to be interesting seeing how CPUs perform in an huge and detailed open world.

Hype over hype ! Game is good ... looks good ... but on character movements feels like Morrowind . Old Deux ex from 2000 had better movement and controls

Update: I tested your theory - even with RT off im getting the same problem.... what im seeing on screen doesnt really correlate to the fps... (p.s i checked - visually RT indeed looks off)

Do you have it on steam?
Users are reportedly saying the gog version runs a lot better.(as mentioned in the cp2077 thread)

I'm getting great performance, tell you what how about we swap cards and see if that helps, i'll do a straight swap with you.

True, but this was the place with most stuff going on at once, 1hr into gameplay. Will play some more later and see.
