Fitting water block this weekend so hopefully will get some increases I wont OC though makes no sense just let the card Bios do its thing as it will run cooler and that is usually the limiting factor gets to 1950 briefly now with no messing hoping to crack 2.0 with it fitted
Eh... no. Why on earth would you bother watercooling it, if you aren't going to overclock it? Heat is not the limiting factor with a decent air cooler - at all. Boost profile and power limit is.
So up to 20% combined with an overclock. Your absolutely right I'd be a fool not too. I'll have to mess around with it and see what power limit is. Side note, it cost me 550 bucks out of pocket. One of my other hobbies is credit card reward point juggling, lol.
Insp1re2600, I got the Gaming OC variant. Looks like the eagle but mostly black. According to the charts it has a 390w limit?
It does - that will be the limiting factor for you. You can shunt mod it to go higher, but imo it's not really advisable on a gpu that doesnt have a stronger power delievery and only 2x pcie 8 connectors.
Yes that's correct but this depends on the game as well, in some games like I can run 2130-2145MHz in some games 2115MHz is absolutely max on RTX 3090 And I would say depends on silicone lottery as well and power limit, I'm bouncing in Port Royal power limit and in some games literally GPU is pegged at 100% Hope this helps Thanks, Jura
Depending on the GPU you should be able hit 2.0GHz under water, literally will depends on power limit and GPU itself With undervolt at something like 1.02v and custom V/F curve you should be able to run 2.0GHz quute easily there Hope this helps Thanks, Jura
So your saying the standard card wont increase its speed under water when it will be limited to probably below 60degC whereas at the moment it runs about 82 at full load? As I said it briefly hits 1950 then it backs off because its set to at 84DegC it then hovers 1890-1935 with the fans pretty much at max, so frankly I think your wrong and we will see, the reason for water cooling is the same as always preserve my investment and save my ears, because quiet it aint! It has a 390w limit I think thats plenty of power it just needs more cooling.
Well just played Cyberpunk with all on Maximum got super toasty warm never known my PC exhaust to actually feel like a room heater before! Just hope I have enough Rad capacity got a couple of 280s with Noctua 140s so I think it should be fine can extend to 420s if required I have the space my 2080ti and 3950 were fine with a 280 and a 240
What is your ambient temp? Either you live in the sahara desert, or you have very insufficient cooling in your case, and/or a bad stock cooler on your gpu, and/or a bad cooler mount on your gpu - in that case simply reseating the gpu cooler with new TIM will solve it. With 23c ambients, i get 65c on my 3090 strix with stock settings, and about 75c with OC and 480 watt power limit. And yes, it bounces against that power limit, and will go beyound 500 watts, so you are definitely going to be limited by that 390 watt power limit. Will you get higher clocks with lower temps? Obviously, cause you are close to the danger zone at 85c... but with normal gpu temps (aka 75c or lower) temps will not be the limiting factor - again, the power limit is the primary limiting factor for 3090.
no change is better than performance loss i can't recall those 3 titles having the performance optimisations disabled though, so probably explains why theres no improvements to be had.
Case is well ventilated but the GPU is a heat monster at 390w thats a lot of heat to shift on Air inside a case even one as big as my enthoo 719 but to be fair the intake is setup for a full cooling loop on water Temp so until the card is included the intake is not as ramped as it could be for now I open the side when it gets warm there are 3 x 140 intakes and 2 x 120s with 3 x 140 exhausts the intakes are just getting CPU temp for now am confident I will have it under 60 deg C at load come the Weekend
Did you even read what i wrote? I'm running my card at 480 watts OC, and it doesn't go above 75c. So if you are getting 85+ at only 390 watts, the airflow inside your case is most definitely inadequate. And yes, im using the stock strix air cooler. You didn't mention your ambient temps though - because if you have 35c ambient, ofc it's going to run alot hotter. But it could also be a bad cooler mount, as already said.
Hi there You are comparing Asus RTX 3090 Strix vs AIB like PALIT or PNY and other like Zotac etc, yours GPU cooler is one of the best without the question, friend have Zotac RTX 3090.which is hitting like 75°C in most of the games with minimal OC on core and VRAM, he seen 82°C in gaming as well Ambient will make as always difference and I agree with that, replacing TIM(ZF-EX) I have done on friend GPU for now and this lowered temperatures by 4-6°C For sure if you will go with waterblock and watercooling I would expect you will gain on OC although if its worth it, depending if you are happy or not If he goes with water cooling I'm sure he whave better temperatures and probably better OC as well than have now and if whole PC will be quieter it depends but I expect it will be 390W power limit is just disappointing on 2 8 pin RTX 3090 but hey we still can do shunt mod or get 3 8 pin GPU I have ordered Asus RTX 3090 Strix OC but I don't think I will see that GPU this year hahaha, I'm now 588th in queue Thanks, Jura
