Anyone with Just Cause 3 or the hunter COTW tried running it with the 3090 in 4k? I get audio distortion only when in 4k for some reason
Are you OC'ing core as well, try first core OC to be 100% stable, good stability test is Metro Exodus with RT, Assassin's Creed games, BFV, Control as well with RT enabled and many others I'm stable on my RTX 3090 with 1200MHz on VRAM, in some games +1295MHz on VRAM and for core +100-115MHz Hope this helps Thanks, Jura
Nah - undervolt. Everything was stable until I moved to the latest NV driver - but the instability remained after I rolled back....
It can as well depend on ambient temperatures and temperatures as well, my temperatures on RTX 3090 GamingPro are in 30-34°C as max and max temperatures what I have seen has been in 36-38°C What temperatures are you seeing in gaming there? Thanks, Jura
If its undervolt then seems your undervolt is unstable, try something like 1.0v or less with 1920MHz or 1935MHz Hope this helps Thanks, Jura
Wow, those are some low temperatures, they are like RTX 3090 Strix' idle temperatures, under full gaming load in 4K with maxed settings my chip usually heats up to around 58°-68°C (depending on the game).
sometimes the voltage used is actually too high, you might get better clocks at lower voltage. Its worth trying.
Hi there Yes they're low, I expected higher temperatures because of TDP of current generation of GPUs, RTX 2080Ti Strix with 2205MHz OC would reach in games around 36-38°C(40°C has been absolutely max) and that's with 366W BIOS Currently running KFA2 390W BIOS and temperatures are quite good, yesterday I tried again few things and GPU wouldn't break 30°C but that's with opened window hahaha, ambient temperature has been like 17°C Yours RTX 3090 Strix have higher TDP or higher BIOS at 480W and with such TDP temperatures off course will be higher, these GPUs will fly under water or they will OC bit better under water Looking forward to test Asus RTX 3090 Strix OC with waterblock and see what that GPU will do in test and games My Palit RTX 3090 GamingPro would do 2130-2145MHz in games with +1295MHz on VRAM and literally I'm limited by power limit and silicone lottery hahaha Yours temperatures for air cooler are great there, I would be more than happy with such temperatures on air there Undervolt can helps with temperatures if you think they're high but I think they are quite low for air cooler Hope this helps Thanks, Jura
I use undervolt for my RTX 3090 as well in some instances, temperatures won't improve or change, in Assassin's Creed Valhalla my RTX 3090 will keep at 1.0v 2100-2115MHz all the time, with offset I'm running 2130-2145MHz in Assassin's Creed Valhalla Undervolt I prefer to use mainly in rendering where other GPUs I use, in gaming it depends, in some games I have better results with undervolt or manual V/F curve than offset and in some offset is way to go Hope this helps Thanks, Jura
That's with RTX 3090? If you are hitting 2150-2200GHz with RTX 3090 then you have golden sample nothing more There are not many GPU which will hold for whole benchmark of Port Royal 2145-2205MHz My GPU will hold for short of period of time 2160-2175MHz which will drop to 2130-2145MHz If your GPU will hold such clocks in RT games such Control with RT, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, BFV with RT etc Hope this helps Thanks, Jura
Agreed. While I can also do 2150ish on my Strix in many Benchmarks without crashing, in games that really tax the card at 4K I need to go much lower or I'll get crashes either immediately or after a couple of hours. Then again, with such an overclock, the card power throttles so much even with the 480W limit, that it usually performs better overall with much lower clocks when playing these games for a while anyhow, as the valleys won't be so deep and also not as long, so there isn't really any point for overclocking the card too much for everyday use. Undervolting with a mild overclock may make more sense in the long run, but I haven't tried yet. Yeah, I'm fine with the temperatures under air. That said, I'm currently collecting parts for a custom loop (the last one I had was around 15-20 years ago which ended in a disaster when one of the tubes burst and killed almost all components of my PC back then - with all kinds of advancements in the watercooling area in the past decade or so I'm finally finding the courage to try again) which I'll hopefully be able to complete in the next couple of months. Right now it seems to be hard to find the parts I'm looking for, though. I need some white 360mm Radiators in 60mm and 45mm thickness to go with my case, but I can't find any around here right now. Not sure which block I should get for the Strix either, ideally I'd like one with an actively water cooled backplate for the RAM and so forth, although I guess I'll get whatever is available once I have the rest of the parts. There don't seem to be that many options anyway.
I actually had better luck with a Suprim X bios than the Strix OC on my Gaming X trio 3090 +191clock and +1050memory got me 14511 on Port Royale with a peak clock of 2115mhz avg 2040mhz
It's seriously crazy how much power the 3090 draws in particularly bf5 at very high res... this is 4k @ 6k ultra It spikes to 500 watts and drops to below 1900 core to stay within the 480 watt limit... i seriously think it would spike to like 700 watts if there was no power limit and you forced a constant 2100 mhz core in that game with those settings.
Forgot to mention that whilst I got +191/+1050 on Port Royale this was only due to the fact its DX12 where as DX11 benchmarks could do +145/1050 both got the same clocks so im assuming its just more of a workload to meet the same clocks ?
Gigabyte 3090 here. Its ugly as sin, but its whatever, lol! Its running stock right now and temps stay impressively cool. I think I saw 65c with escape from tarkov as the highest. I have it in Phanteks Enthoo 719 case. Are those overclocks producing some meaningful gains or is it more of a numbers thing?
Up to about 10% performance to be gained over stock FE card with OC - depending on what model you have ofc. It will mostly come down to the power limit on your particular gpu. Seeing as you already paid a large premium for a 10% performance increase over the 3080, you'd be "slightly" foolish to not OC and get the most out of your gpu...
