    Hi all, I've recently upgraded my i7 7820x to a 10900k
currently running at stock MCE off but for costs savings, i kept my h115i from the old setup

    https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categ...Performance-Liquid-CPU-Cooler/p/CW-9060027-WW

here are my temps. Im running it on an a/c room 25c for now but normally I keep the A/C off so expect a bit higher temps are daytime temperatures here usually hits 34c

    questions please:

    1. Is this temp normal? I read people posts saying theirs dont hit 80c though Im not sure what their ambient temps were

    2. Will it be worth replacing with a newer AIO? like an updated H115 pro or Kraken X63?

    Look decent I'd say.

these are the temps now that Ive turned the A/C off

those max temps were hit running cinebench

Would I benefit from a better AIO than this old h115i? Or is it a case of it is what it is for the 10900k?
    im still running stock =)

It's ironic how much hotter Intel runs than AMD now days when 10-12 years ago is was the total opposite. Those temps are warm for sure but a better cooler wouldn't hurt, and Cinebench is very demanding so it's not like you're running at those temps constantly. I hope not.

Might shave 5c off, but don't expect miracles. It's fairly hot chip.

there's better aios that kraken.h115i is very good.
if this is stock w. PL then it's a bit toasty but with high ambient temps I don't know,it'll be hard to drop those temps
look for liquid freezer 2 360,cheap and very effective, but I doubt you'll drop a lot (if anything)

also, case and fan setup ? is that clc getting enought air ?

What are you other voltages? System agent, VCCIO, PLL Termination.

    Those can all affect temperature.

I'm not sure you need 1.3+v for 4.9ghz but it depends on your SP rating.

Im pretty sure the only gain you`ll get with the 115 pro is rgb, the top end coolers from corsair only differ by a couple of degree`s....and that`s due to the fans, i`d try repasteing or maybe use a high end paste

Gaming primarily, some rendering too but my software uses GPU rendering (enscape)

Arent the new h115i better than the 2017 version? How about the 360? I dont want the one with RGB fans though haha

So you are fine. Depending on the resolution and graphics settings, you are most probably going to be bottlenecked by the GPU unless playing at 1080p. CPU will not be doing much. I also have the H115i (newer version) and CPU is mostly in the 40Cs and sometime 50Cs in games. The only time it might go higher is during loading a game or a map. Also depends on the room temperature. In summer it will be a bit higher. In fact I have the radiator fans based on GPU temperature not CPU temperature.

1.34v for 4.9ghz is really a lot and you don't want to leave most voltage settings on stock with these chips generally. My out of the box "AI" settings try to give this thing 1.43v for stock clocks...

So initially I just set my 10900k to 5.0ghz all cores sync and 1.220v, then I scaled up voltage until I stopped getting crashes/stopped workers/etc in test apps. Do the same thing with VCCIO etc as mentioned above but instead start at default voltage and then scale down from the defaults. I'd leave ring @ stock 4.3 and try undervolting that if you just gaming or w/e. Load line calibration for your underclock can be set conservatively if youre only going for 4.9-5.0hz on this chip.

For reference, my chip does 5.0ghz @1.235v 24/7 and thats with .05v extra for headroom. Max I see in the latest prim95 with smallest fft is 74c. (x73 with kryonaut, room temp around 21c). Prime95 is great for testing maximum thermals but is overkill for what 99.99998% of people are doing though, you're better off using OCCT or something else for stability anyway. I think you can get more out of your chip for less voltage all around personally. Just spend time *safely* playing with values and crashing your system repeatedly, you'll get there.

That's the VID. Vcore is 1.305v during Cinebench. He doesn't use the CPU for rendering so he will be fine.

(edit: brain fart, either way 1.3 is still very high for 4.9ghz on 10900k)

I can't really comment on "fine" because opinions vary too much, but either way you shake it, high 80s/low 90s is not even close to optimal on a decent AIO @4.9ghz in cinebench for this chip... Unless that 34c is actually inside his home then God help this man before his CPU temps.

Seriously... just play with undervolting a little. Pretty expensive and also seemingly future proofed chip not to be getting the most out of it, especially in terms of longevity.

    Good luck.

Remember most performance results are based on ambient temperature of 20° - 21° C. For comparison you need to subtract 1°C for each degree you are above 21°C.

Haha. In summer my room temperature reaches 33c. I need 1.31v for 5GHz but that's for a 9900K.

33-34c are usual daytime temps without AC and if its a sunny day lol

im gonna read more about how to overclock and undervolt this chip
seems a lot more complicated than my x299

my 7820x can OC to 4.5Ghz at only 1.110v
