Congrats on your purchase, i was actually tempted to buy one myself, but that's just too expensive for me even if i keep it 6 years.

I did however made an opsie and bought a 5950x out of similar reasons so theres that.

On the gpu front just ordered a 3060 ti for cheap at "only" 750$,lol. But i just can't stay with a 1080 placeholder anymore. Will return it once i see a 3080 or 6800 xt at reasonable price. If it won't happen this month will return it anyway and see what ideas i have then.

never buy at launch or there are hw problems or there are not enough units, i will buy mine later next year, I'm not a neophile so i can wait a few months with what i already have, maybe they even lauch the rumored 20GB version of the 3080.

I did the same with prev gen, i didn't got the 2080 but got the 2080 super instead, glad i waited.

So this is the thread where people tried to bought a 3080 but ended with a 3090 instead?.

In my case I'm glad that it happened, since i've hearing that the 3080 is probably getting a version with more vram, getting the lesser one could have been a shoot in the foot.

I ended paying more and not getting the custom keyboard i wanted but getting this one after owning a gtx 1080 before, the sensation of upgrade was HUGE, it felt like moving from a gt 1030 to a 1080ti. (is an exaggeration i know but it somehow felt like that)

Gonna wait until xmas 2021 to decide on my next gfxcard. Prob will go for a 3080 and thats it.

2080 Super totally does the trick for me atm and i'll have a proper difference when making the switch to a 3080.

I make a habit of aiming for at least a 30% fps increase when buying gfxcards. I always did that since the 3Dfx Voodoo cycle started. -sigh- good times. :)

That was another reason for me to "impulse" buy this 3090 FE:
    • Crap availability of 3080's
    • Vague news about 3080 Ti
    • Wondering whether 10GB's was gonna cut it (I know it's fine now, but I usually skip at least 1 gen with GPU's)
Bundle that with a 3090 FE showing up in stock at € 300 less then the next possible 3090 and was like "screw it".
I'm actually positively surprised with NVIDIA's cooling solution. Hottest temp so far was 61° C and my CPU isn't showing an increase (which is what some people feared with the blow through design).

Next up is a PCI-E 4.0 NVME SSD (future proofing as storage will usually be in use much longer than the motherboard/CPU I have) and then it's back to being stingy for a year (probably until Ryzen 6000/7000 series arrive).

I am on a 2070 super xc ultra. EVGA brand. I bought it the Sept 17th, release day for the 3080. Joined the step up queue on the 21st and have no problems waiting until they get to me. It'll probably be awhile but this card plays all my games without any issue at 1440p.

Would I like the 3080 I am stepping up to now? Yes, but I can definitely wait.

I really wanted a 6800xt or 6900 to move totally to Team Red but on launch day it was a joke and having seen the nightmare with 3080s and 3070s from Nvidia and expecting the same with the 6900 when the chance to grab a 3090 came up I just bought it knowing that it should be ok for at least 3 years hopefully more.

You know exactly NOTHING about this haha!

Refresh will be ~1 year after 3000 series launched. If it happends at all.

3070 Ti and 3080 Ti are coming, probably. They will have no need to refresh anything anytime soon. AMD can't deliver at all and this won't change for months.

Guess what happends 1 year after refresh tho, 4000 series.

2000 SUPER buyers got so butthurt when 3000 came out less than a year after. This is what happends when you buy a refresh over a true generation. PLUS you loose the driverfocus from Nvidia because Architecture changes and they will ALWAYS prioritize newest arch. You are now stuck with a refresh of last-gen. Yay!

    Link for proof lmao

Stock won't even be normal by Q2 - A refresh is def not coming till Late Q3 or Q4, which is one year after release.

Ur probably just butthurt because your 1080 Ti is on 2060 Super level these days

No, you NEED TO SIT READY when cards release, and you will get one fast. If you wait 1 hour post release, you will be waiting for weeks if not months. Wait 1 day, and it's months for sure, unless you order a lesser popular card and get lucky maybe.

My Asus 3080 TUF OC does +175 on the core which is 2.2 GHz in-game reaching 3090 perf at 1440p and 4K easily - A somewhat golden chip since most only does 2.1

No way im selling for less than 1000 euro

Already got a 900 euro bid lol
