    Presenting to screen i'd say?

Igor had 16-23w idle at 4k.

you could check with nvsmi to see whats going on

I think you are right, I just checked my 1080ti and that idles at 10% power on Windows 7.
    Hadnt spotted that before :)

Its confusing how these cards are supposed to idle with the fan off, when there is well over 20W constantly being used which will need the fan to be used.
It would be nice to understand that.

most of the vendors are using 45w as the point fans come on.

My 3090 reports 35W to just over 45W is being used at idle.
    My 1080ti uses 18W to 20W.

I thought the fan coming on was temperature based?

I might be mistaken, but atleast one of the vendors has said their fans come on at 45w, i forget if it was gigabyte or msi.

Well I just sent an Email to Palit asking for a higher TDP BIOS. In the few reviews I've seem from this card the Performance bios should be 420w+ but mine hits power limit at 370. I can up it past 400 by increasing the power limit%, but I want more power.

My card pulls around 31w idle in desktop, and fans stay off.

Hola, I picked up my 3090FE last Friday, (after ordering it via Bestbuy). What a beast! I went from a 1080SC to the 3090FE. I originally wanted a EVGA 3080, but no chance for it. Unless you're willing to pay scalper pricing. When the 3090FE popped up on Bestbuy, I impulsed and grabbed it. VR with this GPU and my Reverb G2, just insane...

Not at this time, I have something to fix first but I'll put a photo up when I do it (soon™).

The one problem was with my Z370 Classified K board and the thick case front USB 3 cable. The connector on the board being at right angle to the board itself causes the cable to sit up and push against the bottom of the vertical GPU holder bracket. I have ordered a 90⁰ USB3 adaptor on eBay to alleviate this issue but our local Aussie postal services are performing a go-slow on processing my package. Hopefully I should get it sometime this week so I can snap a pic and post it here.

iv had to order a 280mm rad for the top of my case, as the length of the card and my 360 rad in the front was a no go, the gpu is longer than a pornstars penis.

Just received my 3090 FE today and that was my first response when I opened the box: "Holy... this thing is huge."

Well crap. I just got email back from Palit, saying that only the OC version has 420+ watt bios and they won't supply my non oc version with one. I might just return the card and get a better version from a different manufacturer, since I can't seem to find the OC models BIOS from the web.

yes indeed, replaced the front rad today, kept the 15mm noctuas as dont think full size fans would fit lol.
Pretty happy with it now. Didnt have any 140mm noctuas spare for the top, so that will have to wait a little.

need some advice please got my 3090 last Saturday running it with 3 series 16 core CPU and a MSI x570 unify with the latest Bios but GPUz reports am running at x8 on the PCIe socket.
    my setup is as follows
PCI slot 1 GPU (1200w phanteks revoltx)
    2 empty
    3 Empty
3x1 slot Creative Z sound card
    all other slots empty
    I have 3 x nvme drives installed
4 x Sata Drives installed 2 in raid mirror 2 stand alone
Am I causing my slot to run at x8 because of the 7 Drives? I was under the impression the 1st PCIe slot was direct from the CPU and unaffected, all latest drivers are installed and a new Win 10 was installed
Card is vertically mounted using a pciex4 cable 20 cm

    Hi there

I would probably suspect as first riser which can cause such issues, can you please try run GPU without the riser?

I don't think its down to how many drives you are running etc

    Hope this helps

    Thanks, Jura

That was my initial thought but the cable I have is certified for PCIe 4
    https://linkup.one/pcie-4-0-riser-cables-ultra/
however I cant try it without the vertical mount at the moment as am restricted by my loop am just awaiting a water block and pipes to rebuild the loop from my old 2080ti setup I dont have enough pipe length on the CPU to clear the card but I will give it a try once I get the delivery, Forgot to mention I did reset the Bios to defaults as well before and after I updated it

Nice setup, I can imagine its going to get super toasty in there am shocked at the amount of heat this card pushes out under load
