I'm still amazed by Zen 2 but man Zen 3 is really a knock off.

Selling mine amazing 3700X today, it was one of the easiest sell as i had so many that wanted that chip.

Im definitely replacing my 2700X for 5800X but just like in your case i dont really need for now. Also replacing monitor for 1440p which makes even less sense. Im aiming for gpu upgrade first.

I kinda need the power of the 5950X since i create content and editing very heavy photos so it's "needed".

The 3700X amazed me so much tbh, the MP performance uplift from 4790K 4.6GHZ were astonishing as well as SP but i always wanted 16 cores and well... Zen 3 came fast :)

I too went from a 4790k to this 3700X and I can attest to massive uplift in everything

but yeah go with what you need :)

My 3700x has spoiled me to the point I can’t buy a 5800x because it’s too pricey lol

It's actually a mess at the moment. Some reputable online shops charge 817$ for a Ryzen 5800X (normal retail price is : 573$)
    It's disgusting and really sad.

Same goes with any new hardware or even the PS5.

I bought the 5950X for $900, $100 increase over MSRP but i knew that if i miss the first batch it will take a while... so far i was one of the last ones to purchase that gem.

I thought about getting the 5950X, but it appears to be starved for memory bandwidth in some situations.
In some multi threaded scenarios it's neck and neck with the 5900X.

Probably we won't see the full potential of the 5950X but to own speedy 16 cores that can do literality ANYTHING is just amazing of itself, i can abuse this cpu and it will laugh at anything i'll throw on it.

Ok, just installed my 5900X and begun some testing. I'm running everything at stock on the F30 BIOS (AGESA 1.0.8.1)
What's interesting is obviously the temps which are way cooler than my 3800X that would heat up to 75-76C using the same cooler (Dark Rock 4 Pro)

I'd say single core performance is below average but multicore is good. No 5GHz but on the other hand I'm not running PBO.

Now I just have to find the MSI AB beta so that I can check frequencies ingame.

I know but when I read about it on Overclockers a lot of people report different problems with F31 which is why I don't dare installing it.

I was wondering, does a 5900X need a X570 board, or can i get away with a B550? Because i had the Asus ROG Strix B550-E Gaming on my wishlist, which their highest end B550 board.

The only X570 board would be the new Dark Hero, which is passivly cooled. But that one is probably going to be double price, wich i rather spend on DDR4.

If you buy a good B550 board like the Asus ROG Strix B550-F or the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk you'll be set. If you want something even better there is the Gigabyte B550 Aorus Master but that one isn't cheap.-

Will have to be the B550-E, because the F doesn't have USB-C.
