How did 3080 suddenly get 30 fps more in the Witcher 3 1440p benchmark compared to last time?

Apparently there is an issue with RT rendering in some games that might effect performance.

    Wow, really, this is impressive:
-very close to 3080 in 4K and beating it in 1440p
    -costs $50 less
    -+6GB VRAM
-significantly less power consumption and therefore just crushing the 3080 in terms of effectiveness
-got great reference design with NV-like temperatures and acoustics
-OCs MORE THAN TWICE BETTER than the 3080 (Techpowerup)

The only pro for NV remained the RT performance. But to be honest, given the quality of RT in most games (and even the number of games supporting it) it doesn't make it (for me) a decisive factor given the earlier points. And take it into account that the first gen RT AMD non-flagship matches the first gen NV flagship in RT, which is a decent start IMO.

The performance is where most have expected it to be , availability none as expected too .
Waiting to see if the 6900xt performs as I hope when it arrives , hopefully it will match the 3090 at a better price and the shops will have some cards to sell .

    @1440p 3080 - 54fps / 6800xt - 52fps
    How is that 'poor'?

So looks like Nvidia better at 4k and at 1440p you could save money and go with 3070 based on Uk prices vs the 6800. Am reading it right the 3070 is sim perf at 1440p but costs less? Looking like 3070 way forward unless I decide to splurge on a 4k screen and a 3080...

The 4k perf is a bit of a disappointment but it is a cheaper card but by how much? Will see on the 25th. (am still thinking about the 6800xt but for tried and tested re drivers and cheaper its def looking like Nvidia has somehow won again for me).

Is it something to do with the memory on the 6800xt at 4k? (that said having a fast card at 1440p is a tempter but what 20fps at over 100fps anyways?)

If 6800XT has its price close to 3070 RTX is an absolute win. It doesn't deserve being near the price tag of 3080.

From what i've seen 3070 is no where near performance wise at 1440p and costs 700euro. Msrp means squat in this case.

Looks like AO and SSR are broken... WDL needs to be retested later when a driver has fixed it as the current RT performance is not correct.

For me RT is where I am focused on as there is plenty of Raster performance already.

    that is correct.
let's face it,even a 3060Ti/6700 will run through 1440p like a buzzsaw through warm butter for traditional rendering.

The perf is here on guru? Its in the 6800 review done by Hilbert. And in the Uk the 6800 is listed at £600 vs £550 or so for 3070. Its not rocket science man!

p.s why do you always seem to want to skew results to favor Amd? Just go off the price and the benchmarks....lets not make it an amd vs Nvidia thing. No-one cares right now we just want stock either way!

that is not correct,3070 is very close to 6800 but for 4K.
    tpu shows 6% difference at 1440p,purepc shows 5%,computerbase shows 3%,pcgh shows 2%.
    4K it's 8-100%,so yeah,kinda noticeable,though for the price difference..... I'd say it's not unexpected.

yes, msrp prices don't matter, but real prices are inflated for amd too.6800 is close to 3080 msrp here.

The 6800 priced too high for me in the Uk i'll stick to nvidia at 1440p. Solid drivers etc. I was hoping the 6800xt beat the 3080 or matched it at 4k, would have been nice to save some cash if I go 4k but no screens no gpus am still undecided.

25th might try and snag a 6800xt. Otherwise that palit 3070 jetstream reviewed by Hilbert looks great...

Never have had to read this many posts before someone just puts out the truth as it is. This won't change anything in competition between Nvidia and AMD.

Someone on discord brought up a fair point.

Consoles are going to push Ray Tracing and such like crazy, so it should still be better to get Nvidia just because of how far ahead they are with it.
