If it does the same deferred context multi-threading that Origins and Odyssey did then on NVIDIA for D3D11 CPU0 was near constantly at 99% with the rest up to at least 8 cores and 8 logical (HT/SMT) so that's curious.
On AMD it's 60 - 80% and a bit rougher but it still populates a number of CPU cores and works best at hexa or octa though in particular the bigger city areas benefit from the extra CPU core availability.

D3D12 should have helped (If it's used here.) with the extreme draw call amount the game does what is it again 100.000 per frame being the recommended max for D3D11 I think and the game hits err 600 to 800.000 I'll have to look it up again. Odyssey in particular was really tough on these.

Improvements to CPU and GPU multi-threading should also benefit AMD and their way of recommending doing this but it should still scale for NVIDIA and of course Intel possibly they're using AMD_AGS.dll for FreeSync 2 HDR extension support and maybe a bunch of RDNA optimizations though I was impressed how Origins and Odyssey and this new Anvil engine iteration just was almost vendor neutral in terms of this or that bit of tech.
(D3D11.1 and threading as something NVIDIA supports and AMD does not but no major Game Works or AMD AGS extensions or anything.)

Held back by being D3D11 and limited by that which I was hoping that while not perfect Valhalla here would resolve.
(Can't quite throw out that backwards compatibility entirely so it's D3D11+D3D12 or going with a good Vulkan implementation and OS capabilities limiting some of the Win8 and Win10 improvements if targeting Win7 support too.)

EDIT: Wonder if it differs a bit after getting out of Norway, country of snowy prologue and the town of beginnings. :p
("Yeah we know you want to start raiding immediately but we set up this tactical training course for our new raiders and wannabe Berserkers in Norway first that you need to clear...")

Well it probably won't contain a giant big and bare Odin statue at least...it's something.
And by Loki get rid of the force community placed photo stuff as a proper toggle this time or don't plop it right on and completely over the Viking teleportation system for fast-travel!

EDIT: But to be a bit fair to the series only Black Flag had that conveniently placed obstacle course on the remote island right at the start most of the series was a more standard starter bit.
(Still with the usual heavy handed tutorial system but eh it's a common thing overall in video games.)

  2. Valhalla uses DX12 and Anvil doesn't saturate thread 0 at constant 99%. Definitely not by default. If it does, it's a bug:

9900K + 2080TI - I don't like posting these videos, simply because it's an unknown, unvalidated environment, but this looks OK-ish.

Yeah Valkyrie, Draugr and Berserker skin packs (And one more seen below I don't recall the name of again.) and some other stuff is what I've seen too. Guessing the unicorn theme made it back but we'll see if there's if there's more to it than the boat.

What's the currency pack at anyway these I think would be 10$ 15$ and 20$ so pfft.
Dailies and weeklies and random blues and purples again from some rando NPC with none of the charm of the camel boy from Origins and his many tales.
(Plus he only took gold but that was a given it'd turn into some server side currency thing.)

    Game runs like ass...
"RTX3090 cannot run Assassin’s Creed Valhalla with 60fps in 4K/Ultra"

"According to the benchmark, the average framerate in 4K/Ultra on the RTX3090 is around 56fps. At first glance, this isn’t so bad. However, the in-game performance appears to be worse than the built-in benchmark. In some villages, the framerate appears to be dropping to even 40fps." - DSOG

Typical UbiLag, they never can properly optimize the game.
Heck, even Xbox Series X is running this game in fake 4K ~60fps and not ultra settings, that's a big indicator how bad it's optimized.

PC version probably is done by Ubisoft Kiev, all they PC ports are one big hot garbage.

FFS! Clouds set to high and AA down a notch will help to get it close to 60 but this is still crap!

Actual gameplay with an rtx3090. SPOILERS!! This looks a bit more promising but cant see the settings does seem to be at 60 most of the time. Hopefully a new driver will sort out the low gpu usage.

You're not supposed to max out AA at 4k anyway.

AA in this is just some form of TAA isn't it, setting it to max in the prior games enabled this reconstruction and framerate target even which reduced image quality.
Volumetric clouds though those did a number, barely any difference but just a notch down from ultra to v.high and there's a smooth 30% performance back if not more. :D

Shadows and the draw distance in Origins I think although neither of those are all that new for diminishing returns or performance gains or a combination thereof above medium or high setting.
(Draw distance was still really aggressive but generally hidden fairly well.)

Should unlock in what four - six hours I think for Australia followed by Asia or just using a VPN and hopefully Ubisoft threw in that day-1 update already and possibly extras like some texture pack and what not.
NVIDIA's next 457.xx driver if not higher sounded like it was close to finalized for release too going by Manuel's posts in the NVIDIA driver topic though it also sounded like he was pushing for a earlier hotfix driver for a pressing issue with Warframe so could be either one.

AMD had 20.11.1 out earlier but as long as the game isn't as busted as Odyssey was initially hitting near single digit performance at time it shouldn't be too critical just a nice extra to have assuming it's stable not that this is anything new for display drivers in general either. :D

EDIT: Not that temporal anti-aliasing can't be expensive even if it's not MSAA there's still a variety of methods and levels of quality balanced with effectiveness and the downside of temporal stability needing a good framerate and how demanding this finally becomes for the hardware to handle.

UE4's usually running around a mid-quality level for games which can be increased further but then it starts being more demanding and the resulting softness or blur while noticeable reducing aliasing is also a drawback here.
(Err kinda like maybe Call of Duty and their implementation of a "Filmic" style SMAA or how to compare or describe it as.)

Nah, it's how the engine works - loads 1 core to the brink, then loads more cores as needed. If it was bottlenecked by that 1 core, then you wouldn't see increased fps by lowering the resolution, which he does - it nearly doubles going to 1080p, and considering the 3090 handles 1080p quite poorly due to the new core design compared to 4k, i'd say it's gpu bottlenecked the entire way through.
