    SK hynix Launches World's First DDR5 DRAM

    SK hynix Inc. announced to launch world's first DDR5 DRAM. It is a high-speed and high-density product optimized for Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and machine learning (ML) as a next generation standard of DRAM.
    Since SK hynix announced the development of World's First 16 Gigabit (Gb) DDR5 DRAM on November 2018, the Company has provided its major partners including Intel with sample products, and has completed various tests and verification of its functions and compatibility.
    This will allow SK hynix to provide its customers with the products once the DDR5 market becomes active.

    In the meantime, SK hynix has conducted joint-operation of on-site lab, system-level test, and simulation with System-on-Chip) (SoC) manufacturers to verify the functions of DDR5.
    Also, the Company validated compatibility of its DDR5 and the major components on DRAM module including register clock driver) (RCD), which affect DRAM performance, and power management integrated circuit) (PMIC).
    Through these verifications, SK hynix has been collaborating closely with its global partners.SK hynix's DDR5 supports transfer rate of 4,800 ~ 5,600 Megabit-per-second (Mbps), which is 1.8 times faster than the previous generation - DDR4.
    It can transmit 9 full-HD (FHD) movies (5 GB each) per second with 5,600 Mbps transfer rate. Its operating voltage is 1.1 V being lowered from 1.2 V of DDR4, which means that its power consumption is reduced by 20%.

    Another notable specification of the Company's DDR5 is Error Correcting Code (ECC) inside the chip that can correct even 1-bit-level errors by itself. With the ECC, the reliability of applications will be increased by 20 times.
    The Company's DDR5 also could build up to 256 Gigabyte (GB) capacity applying through-silicon-via (TSV) technology.

    The Company expects that these eco-friendly semiconductor memories will reduce both the power consumption and operating costs of data centers as DDR5 consumes less power and significantly improves its reliability.

    AMD keeps teasing Zen 3's Gaming Performance

    AMD's Zen architecture was a gamechanger, injecting some much-needed competition into the x86 CPU market by giving Intel some viable competition.
    Since then, PC purchasers have been able to get a lot more value for money every year, seeing core counts and performance levels rise to previously unheard of levels.

    This week, AMD plans to reveal its Zen 3 architecture. On October 8th, AMD plans to host a Zen-focused event at 12 PM EST, 5 PM BST and 6 PM CEST,
    where Lisa Su and other AMD executive plans to discuss the company's "next-generation Ryzen Desktop processors".

    So far, AMD's marketing efforts for Zen 3 have been focused on two things, Gaming and Content Creation. AMD has teased that they have "big things on the horizon for PC gaming," that they will be "taking its PC gaming and content creation leadership to new heights,"
    and that "AMD Ryzen is a complete package of performance and technology leadership".

    Every new generation of Zen processors has delivered enhancements which benefit gamers, from the clock speed enhancements and lowered cache latencies of Zen+, to the IPC, clock speed and cache structure improvements of Zen 2.
    AMD's Zen 3 architecture will deliver their Ryzen brand another leap in gaming performance, and AMD is confident that their latest architecture will be a big deal for the PC gaming market.

    If AMD can deliver further gaming-focused improvements to its Zen 3 architecture, it is possible for AMD to definitively take the so-called "gaming crown" from Intel.
    Such a shift would guarantee strong sales for AMD's future products, especially if Intel is not quick to deliver their own next-generation desktop offerings.

    AMD's Zen 3 teaser ooze confidence, and on October 8th, we will finally see AMD's Zen hype train reach the station.
    The only question now is if AMD will be able to meet the high expectations of their consumer base.

    History of AMD CPUs (Ryzen line) prices:

    Only 8/16 CPUs (new mainstream champion, plenty of Threads)

    1800X (8/16) $499
    1700X (8/16) $399
    1700 (8/16) $329 -> Best 8C Bang for buck (3.9GHz - 4.1GHz possible)
    =================
    2700X (8/16) $329
    2700 (8/16) $299 -> Best 8C Bang for buck (4GHz - 4.2GHz possible)
    =================
    3800X (8/16) $399
    3700X (8/16) $329 -> Best 8C Bang for buck (4.2GHz - 4.4GHz possible)
    =================
    5800X (8/16) $449
    5700X (8/16) ??
    5700 (8/16) ?? We need to wait for more SKUs & prices.

    I do wonder if they will price a 5700x at 399 though. I also wonder if they will make a non x 5700 and 5800.

    Basically anyone buying 3080 would be playing 1440p or 4k. Higher the resolution cpu and ram matter less. Honestly at 4k even r5 1600 would be enough.

    ^True,at 4k not really matter the cpu.But R5 3600 is great because of big cache L3. :)

    went from 4875 multi to 4942 multi and 502 single to 506 single on CB20. I guess it's an improvement in only via the margin of error. 3700X
