    Some issues with the new version.
    For One stress tests work fine but are obviously not enough of a stress because when CB20 kicks in at the end PC will just reboot instead of just crashing the app showing the difference in stress tests
    Two. Whilst Ive managed to work out a little tweaking to my cores from what the stress tests do there was obviously a problem and im not sure if its just a misread but CCX1 wasnt showing the correct clocks during the stress test.
    I think will give false postives on other CCX's such as CCX4 being able to do 4300 because i know at 1250mV it cant. I know now im 4425 CCX1/2 4225 CCX3 due to what I think is a bad core and 4275mhz CCX4

    It is normal. If you don't feed the CPU with enough voltage for the given frequency, the performance drops.

    That's either gonna be a very good sample (because of the so many steps), or indeed there is a bug or problem with the setup.

    Might need some updates to fix some additional issues but it's also a suggestion based on a number of parameters and estimated CPU quality far as I know while also needing the user to have solid motherboard and RAM hardware.
    Parameters and limits differing from the 3600 to 3900 series of processors and then you have components like VRM's and the users memory configuration.

    Memory configuration factors in for infinity fabric but also on whether it's a two slot or four slot dual channel and if the RAM is single or double rank with possible benefits but also drawbacks like how this affects the memory controller.
    Clocks, voltages, bios issues like this skewing or load line calibration for voltage droopiness and fluctuations it's like a curve after all and if it's too flexible and drops low enough it's going to be unstable.

    Newer AGESA and how this affects CPU behavior and memory compatibility and all those parameters too which far as I recall the first threshold was 75 - 80 Celsius for temperature throttle but this was reduced to I think 70 in a early patch.
    My own way of seeing it would be that the software makes some guesses and some testing then suggests if the system is stable what it considers ideal overrides to attempt but this has to be tested and further confirmed from the user that these actually are stable and do work plus that there's no pushing the hardware too heavy and causing instability or at worst even if it might take a while permanent degradation.

    Every single processor has it's specifics after all which then applies for the motherboard and RAM too it's nice to have to have it all laid out and some suggested overclock settings but I would still consider it very experimental and a advanced mode of overclocking though less so than individually toggling a ton of bios values knowing what these do what they are and how they affect the system and the other settings here plus AMD's suggestions and the hardware's actual max tolerance for some of these including stuff like what can lead to causing permanent degradation of performance.
    (Although I do expect CTR here to keep reasonable suggestions where this is less likely and balance what's possible if it just went for max performance results.)


    Motherboard bios differences and vendors and their bugs and various advanced settings and overrides including also not using standard AMD suggested defaults or a number of other conditions, Ryzen Master managing to keep semi-stable here is a bit miraculous with all of that stuff before getting into bios bugs and AGESA issues and vendors doing some boosting or overriding defaults applying maybe a bit more voltage here or some timing tweaks there.

    EDIT: Hmm not sure how stable some of this takes when also pushing heavier benchmarks in the background. Would probably confirm stability real well though when running the heavyweight stress testing suites.

    I like the utility itself too (Not sure on the author of it though seeing some recent news about this security vulnerability and withholding info about it.) but I would see it as complementary and users needing a fair bit of knowledge on AMD specific settings and overclocking compared to Intel and specifics to Zen and particularly Zen2 to get the most out of it and understanding what some of this really does.

    I'm far too much of a novice myself too, just some opinions and my views on it more than anything as such.

    I seem to have made it worse somehow!
    I've been playing around with various BIOS settings, LLC, PBO, voltages etc, to see if I can get it stable but now it's not even completing a diag run without restarting. :(
    Going to give up on it for now and just do some gaming.

    version 1.1 is great as UI, but buggier than previous 1.0 beta3 :confused:

    It is great to have a manual profile to edit, but stress test sometimes is inconsistent (it doesn't really start).
    I fixed the startup issue by deleting system logs. Now profile is applied at startup.

    New user.

    CTR was able to complete its "diagnostic" option but experienced system shutdown both times I attempted the "run" option.

    I applied the BIOS settings recommended in this video before attempting.

    I do not need to get this working in the near future so instead of troubleshooting I will simply report the error and wait for future versions of the software.

    I have a problem with CTR 1.1 beta 3.
    When i start the test core speeds stay at 3800 and dont move, even though log says its testing with higher and higher speeds.
    Applying saved preset also doesnt work for me :/

    Excited to try this version, as I couldn't the OC to run, kept saying I needed to restart. Apparently, it thinks my 3600 is a gold efficiency, 3.84. Sad to think I have that sort of potential left on the table.

    Hi, just tried this today and it looks very promising. I've run into some problems though.

    Relevant specs: ASRock X370 Taichi, Bios 6.20 (1.0.0.4), 3950X
    CTR 1.1 beta3

    First I ran diagnostic, worked fine.
    Proceeded to run the OC tests (used all default settings). It eventually finished and started Cinebench, which rebooted my pc immediately after starting. So I assume the results weren't really stable.

    Later, I tried again, disabling the Cinebench option so I could at least try to save a profile and then try tweaking it manually. This time, I set voltage to 1250 (from 1225 before) and reference freq to 4250, 50mhz higher than before to speed things up a bit. Things were going along fine, got up to 4300 with no failures yet, but suddenly between ending 4300 regular voltage tests and starting the -6mv offset test, the log started spamming "Too high voltage! Immediate system reboot required!". It apparently tried starting the next test anyways, with 74C temp (17c higher than any previously) and immediately failed. Log continued spamming too high voltage, I looked and it was at 1.55v.

    Just throwing this out there, as you can imagine I'm afraid to use this further until this assuredly won't happen again...

    Pretty much my experience on 3700X Auros X570 Pro. Goes fine until it hits 4350 and fails with the same error using default settings.

    I have an Asus B550-E Gaming motherboard and Ryzen 3700X processor, I tested the CTR in all versions from 1.0 going through all betas and now version 1.1 beta 3, testing LLC 3, LLC 4 and LLC auto, the diagnostic works successfully, in the following process after pressing the START button, it successfully performs some steps and then reboots.
    Will any problem have CTR with this motherboard?

    I just finished running CTR1.1. It took a few runs to get it stable for both diagnostics and actual OC tuning.
    Setup:
    • CPU: Ryzen 9 3900x
    • COOLER: Noctua NH-D15S CHROMAX.BLACK
    • MBD: ASUS TUF x570-PLUS
    • MEM: G.SKILL 32GB 3600Mhz
    BIOS Settings:
    • BIOS v2607
    • Enabled DRAM DOCP
    • Changed LLC level (see below)
    • rest of bios config is default

    On CTR1.0, my LCC was set to level 3 and i had a stable overclock of 4400 @1.25v (highest CCX) (NOTE: 1.0 reported my CPU as GOLD sample)

    CTR1.1 caused immediate reboots when trying to run the diagnostics with LLC still set to Level 3 (NOTE: 1.1 reported my CPU as SILVER sample)

    I then set to LLC to AUTO per the updated documentation. Diagnostics would run fine, but system would reboot during the START activities roughly midway through (due to vdroop it appears as it was nearing 3.5% on lower voltage tests)

    I set LLC to Level 5 (highest for my board), and everything became stable with the largest reported vdroop of about .5%

    My final results of the overclock are:
    vcore: 1.256v
    CCX1: 4450 Mhz
    CCX2: 4450 Mhz
    CCX3: 4300 Mhz
    CCX4: 4350 Mhz

    Idle temps in the mid 30's C. max temp seen so far: low 70s C in CB20.
