i would go with the 3070 even if the perf of the 2080ti could be better in some area.
Warranty, new technologies and probably will get better optiomizations

Are these going to suffer the same hardware issue as the 3080/90

Adding an extra 4GB to it = 12GB RAM (if it was the case).....

I would have agreed to pay an extra $75 for the above....

adding 4 gigs of memory means adding another 128 bit of bus bringing it to other levels.
Each ram chip is 32 bit of bus, and 8 of them gives you the 256 bit bus.

No because the driver is now public and everyone can check the cards properly now. So eventual clock boost problem with games can be fixed before launch

The only problem now is will we be able to buy one or will this just be one more vaporware event from NVIDIA

nVidia are delaying the launch until Oct 29 so there will be 2 cards per store for scalpers to buy instead of 1... and so they can wait to see what Fat "why are you so late?" Navi will cost to decide last second how much they can charge for maximum profit.

$500 for 2080ti performance, yea this is gonna be worse than the 3080 release.

if you can wait and already have something decent just wait
over the years I learned one thing, don't buy stuff that isn't in stock, why ?
because if you get a dud, and we know 1st releases of videocards often have problems..you won't get a replacement before a long time you're pretty much at the end of the line versus a new buyer that hasn't paid for the product already, I made that mistake once I had to wait 4 months for a replacement :/

this shortage has been a blessing for me I would have bought an air cooled 3080 10Gb now I'll just wait, this gave me time to test watercooling my gpu, didn't want to test on a brand new 800+ card so I bought a 1080 block
it's awesome btw gpu watercooling, probably better than cpu cooling 25°C idle 41° benchmarking 45° after several hours at 99% cpu usage, case temp way lower too, backplate still hot but well 20°C less than previously lol (had 61-65° stock gpu cooler but it was noisy to get that)

Or wait three weeks to see what AMD launches. If you are a die hard Nvidia fan you still might get a decent price adjustment if AMD is competitive.

If they can only fix their black screen and free sync issues I would consider jumping ship.
