If the 150 watt tdp turns out to be true as a listing it could be that AMD is trying to better represent power consumption in the TDP since the 3900x can already use around 150w full load.

That looks cheap compared to what I paid...

    £291.66 x 1 - Team Group Xtreem "8Pack Edition" 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 PC4-32000C18 4000MHz Quad Channel Kit - Black

    Sub-Total: 291.66
    Shipping: 7.25
    VAT: 68.75
    Total: 367.66

That's GBP - so equivalent to 472.30 USD

Tbh this is my first amd in 15 years lol

I looked for guidance in yt because i knew some boards had less than ideal power delivery and found a hardware unbox video recomending mb in different price range.

Ill send it over pm if you want but its not hard to find

I'm looking at ASRock for MB and will wait for reviews. I switched over from Asus due to ever increasing prices per new model and its awesome for my Haswell 4790K.

I did pay up for the Formual OC MB with 10 year warranty as I used my gear for a long time.

The Taichi looks good, but its around 350, i dont want to throw more than 300 on the mb. Haha

I was honestly looking at a B550 for this round. Not a X570 as no need for multiple GPU. If I can keep it at 150 or less for a solid gaming MB, then I am good. I will keep my older Haswell as a media and file server. KISS this time.

    I have 32GB 3600MHz CL16 and it came for $530 w/o tax. (Samsung B-Die.)
$290 is lovely price for quality kit.

Just like you stuck with your "Superior GTX 1080" ? Haha man.. lighten up... Superior? In what way? your energy bill heights? By now this attitude is becoming a meme. Don't be a fanboy of any brand. Be a fanboy of your wallet...

Just bought an upper-range B550 board to replace the previous cheapo X370, which will be repurposed in another computer.
Will use it with current CPU until these new Zen-3 ones have reached supply/demand/price stability (probably sometime next year).

Getting ready for PCIe 4.0 devices as well ( "Big Navi" GPU, 7GB/s NVMe SSD...)
Added features like on-board Wi-Fi 6 and 2.5gbps LAN are also welcomed, as well as the 10gbps USB 3.2 Gen2 !

I love AM4, allowing replacements of one component at a time, instead of building the whole damn computer at once !

Hopefully this new config will last until DDR5 is mainstream and reasonable in price (2022-23?)

Looking for MB atm, what did you pick? I've got 2 on my list, asus tuf gaming wifi or the strix e gaming... 50-60€ apart.

This one fit my personal requirements the best:
    - Decent to Good VRM but not over the top, I won't be overclocking (I might even undervolt!)
    - 8 USB ports on the back (MSI fails in this area badly) ... I have lots of devices to plug in, and don't want to resort to using hubs
    - Wifi 6 (AX), which also has MU-MIMO, so gigabit speeds are possible through Wifi, something that the Gigabyte "AC" board doesn't, it's just Wifi 5 (AC)
    - Realtek 1220 sound chip, which has support for ASIO low latency driver ( the older 1200 doesn't... ), so useful for me since I dabble in music making ( reason I have many USB devices )
    - Intel 2.5gbps lan chip.
    - It looks good ;)
    - Finally, I already have two other ASUS mobos and they all work fine, so it's a bit of a brand bias too...

The only downside of this board is that it's a bit pricey, compared to others, but I think the little extra is worth it for the features/connectivity options it has.

ps. "E" board is overkill, and has a feature which is completely useless for me - SLI support. SLI is dead.

Aorus master is a better board. For a 300$ its better choice.
