The 30 series take a big hit when RT is enabled, however their overall performance ceiling is way above 20 series.

I apologise, it was given in post 245 to Asturur.

Although you could have researched but instead choose to continue peddling rubbish.
For your benefit this is the latest update here from Guru3D, posted yesterday:
    https://www.guru3d.com/news-story/g...ely-due-to-poscap-and-mlcc-configuration.html
And note, I didnt say there wasnt an issue with the driver, I said it was both.
    Another thing you made up.

Seems like update five sounds like it's all cleared up from Nvidias driver.

Not sure what you're still on about. Even though the cards do clock lower than they did. I'd be pissed.

We still have a user on this forum with an unstable 3080, even with the new drivers.

You can't fix poor electrical design with software.

I'm a bit confused, why less gpu bound titles can cause higher clock speed? I thought gpu bound titles will cause gpu to compute as fast as they can?

The hotter the GPU, the lower its max boost clock.
The very highest clock speeds only happen right at the start of a game while the card is still cool or if running a game that under utilises the card enough to keep it cool.

Likely playing on a 60hz screen at full hd, can let the card plenty of rest between a frame and another. The GPU stays cool and spike when is time to render the frame.

    And half price.
There is often little reason to move from a top model to the next top one.
Giving a better than 2080ti at half price is a leap. You have to compare it with the 2080 NON s i believe if you want to go on perf per dollar.

lower load means lower TDP and heat.

As a software developer, the one thing that strikes me most profoundly about this whole debacle is Nvidia's weak testing program. That is utterly inexcusable and I point the finger squarely at THEM! Before I release my SW it goes through at least a week of a non-stop, torture test cycles and I have a proven track record of good results with this approach. Their feeble program with a single test cycle is woefully inadequate. If I was involved in the manufacture of those cards that would not cut it with me.
    [edit]
I wrote "weak testing program" because it missed this whole problem so, by definition, it is weak and unsuited for the purpose. I can't believe someone thinks that is an adequate way to test a video card that is about to go into mass production. I sincerely hope they got the obvious message that it is not even remotely close to adequate.

"Nvidia's weak testing program" is due to their paranoia of leaks. They did not give their partners drivers to test the cards with games before launch. Just stress software that gives a pass or fail.

The part numbers may change, old part numbers cannot be sold so are discontinued.
Until they get new SKUs they wont be able to create a new product entry.
It depends how the database they use was written.

Leaks can and will hurt a company. You don't want your competition to know what's up.

We're also seeing leaks as being a moneymaker to youtubers and other "Tech journalists" and this seems to be the culture were in.

We have paranoid companies due to leakers that gamers give clicks to.
