As the title stated I would like to know as my preorder is still pending what the price shall be if they release a RTX3080 with 20Gb memory on it

Just let me rub my crystal ball....

Though my complete guess would be 900-999 USD
Leaked specs appear to be exact same 102 chip, no extra cores unlocked or anything just the extra memory, and doubling up the chips won't be cheap.

Yeah and would the pcb be becoming bigger in that case where are they going to put the extra chips I wonder

The 3090 and 3080 FE have the same PCB despite the disparity in memory. So I'd imagine it's the same as on the 3090 - on the back?

Yeah prob but the heat generation on the pcb will be higher in that case

But less than the 3090.... which has the same PCB.

I am going to wait for a 20 GB RTX 3080 as my plan is for my next PC with a Ryzen 4000 CPU to have 32 GB of RAM. That should be good for 6-7 years just as my current i7-4770K 16 GB PC was (built in June 2013 folks!).

The vram comes in 1gb and 2gb modules. So the 20gb will use the latter.

Wonder if 2 GB GDDR6X is close, could be a advantage for the 20 GB versions or these "S" models but then also costlier so maybe not something NVIDIA would just use to reduce the GPU size from having less VRAM chips on the PCB.
Or what more could be done, spacing them out a bit perhaps less thermals from that? (Probably not any bigger effects compared to having half the modules for the same VRAM total or the same but double the capacity.)

EDIT: Then again if NVIDIA wants the 3080 20 GB and 3080 S something 20 GB's out just another 10 on the back of the PCB I suppose isn't that what the 3090 does for it's 12 + 12 layout?

EDIT: Hmm 3090 2 GB modules, probably smaller benefits for that though besides a waterblock design without any complications for the bottom half memories.

Something for the 2021 GPU lineup perhaps or what's next, HBM price breakthrough? Eh wishful thinking.
(Smaller manufacturing process? GDDR7? Maybe too early for that though.)

If 3080 10GB is 700€, then 20GB variant 850-900€ for sure..anything more and it's again a ripoff.. even 850€ is imo steep, whole month avg salary here.

I wonder if Nvidia will wait for those 2gb modules to use on the 3080. Should be cheaper than tacking on 1gb modules on both sides of the PCB.

Going to go for similar, but wait for AMDs graphics offering and then decide on GPU. Coming from 3770K, 16 GB.
