My contribution here was years ago when it first came out, however i find little drive to play this game because it has no purpose in the end other than jump to other planets loot, rinse repeat, my initial thought is that this could have been a star citizen game, but no...
I checked around and nothing added regarding VR, still second rate and an afterthought. But the main game seems like it's less dull now.
Finally an update that adds to exploration on planets. They were taking the road of updating the game mostly for crafting and building stuff, with only minor, negligible updates (rarely) for Flora, Fauna, diversity on planet surfaces and just on-foot exploration in general. Now this update adds to that branch of the game, was about time. Now we have volcanoes, tornadoes, giant worms, mega buildings, much bigger mountains, better Fauna behavior, new life forms (synthetic, insects), meteor showers, landing NPC ships on planet surface, binary star systems too, and more. I'm happy to see THIS sort of update to the game. Because for the better part of the past 2 years or so they barely touched any of that. They focused waaaaay too much on base building and crafting. I'm glad to see that they're back on track with the original intent they had with this game, to bring all sorts of mysteries and sense of wonder while exploring alien worlds.
I started playing (first time) this game a week or few ago and enjoying it so far. Good to hear about new updates which keep the game fresh
How does it compare to something like Elite: Dangerous ? Seems like both are basically do whatever you want kind of game without any goal set by the game, albeit this has some fps element to it. I remember it had terrible start, but hear nothing but praise lately.
Elite's flight mechanics are very different, NMS is a lot more arcade like in that regard, still fun though... NMS is a lot more simpler I guess you could say.
Thanks, I guess I'll pass it then. I kinda like the exploration of Elite and I like that the flight is complex. Although I do get bored after a while too. Can't imagine having it more simple and still enjoying it.
I will have to give this another go. I've tried it on and off a few times and each time I felt like there was really no real reason to explore or do anything. Everything felt somewhat samey and boring. This seems like it may actually change some of that, or at the very least add variety and more danger.
Visuals have massively improved with Prisms, late to the party so hadn't even realised the game moved to Vulkan some time ago, runs decently but curious if there's any tweaks you can do with AMD cards to get better performance out of Vulkan based games?
